Photos
Recently I've been able to post photos from my new phone without the need for resizing down to 500. Today I've had to resize all the phone photos. Has anyone else discovered the same? I wonder why this is happening?

Much the same here, Brue. For a few days nothing needed resizing then, yesterday, bump and back to square one.

Just adding, the forum is enhanced by good photos and it is a pity if the web site has reverted back to resizing, it took me quite a time to reorganise my latest photos on "what have you seen." Also they are not as good quality when enlarged, the sharpness goes.

see this LINK to learn more...
I think most of us appreciate that this is a big set up but small improvements would also be good to see.
Speaking as one who put a "temporary" pumpkins Avatar on for Halloween last year and it's now another year on.

"to learn more'?
10% longer on the website! Of course we are. It's because it's so slow.

Trial. Resized using Paint on laptop to 500pix to see if line disappears. It was still the same so removed the photo.The 1 on the 22/10/18 was resized using the photos program loaded on the laptop which only gave the options of S, M or L.

I saved this from my website to my desktop (PC) and it saved at 362 kbs and had no trouble loading. In the past we had to actually resize the picture to certain dimensions which we no longer have to do.

My I pad is still saying Please ensure all files are under 500kb. when I try to give you a photo without putting it through the re-sizer. No change here.

And when I re size it comes straight through - a photo of a very casual campsite which we liked. Camping les Chalottes.

If you look at the page script, the grid size for a photo is 468 pix wide. Why have a system that places grey strips either side of a photo, then places an obscuring grey bar across the bottom of the photo? Try resizing by width rather then file size.

Brue, this is your photo at 300 pixels wide. Will there be a grey band?

element {
visibility: visible;
width: 100%;
left: 0px;
bottom: 0px;
transform-origin: left bottom 0px;
transform: scale(1) translate3d(0px, 0px, 0px);
opacity: 1;it's the "Bottom: 0 pix that causes the grey band across all uploaded photos regardless of size or width! I can delete the line in firefox and the grey band vanishes!

If you have saved it at a smaller size it will go through, I have a lot of saved resized photos on my files used on CT. But for new photos they have to be resized. My OP was asking, why for a brief time recently, without any explanation or updates of info we were able to post photos ad lib, no resizing needed. It is very confusing.

If you could change your avatar photo, brue, how about this one....provided of course it fits on here.

That's a beautiful photo Nellie, my lot were grown locally at NT Barrington Court so I took a quick photo of a pile there. Lots there this year too. But I would love to change my Avatar and see others being able to choose one for themselves too.
It was good to have the non resizing facility recently, hope we see some improvements in the future.

That was done by clicking on the photo and selecting 'view image' then dragging the photo into the 'comment'. Why can't CT allow us to post photos so that they appear as they should without grey bans side and obscuring the bottom edge?

I wonder why too, the present system just isn't up to the job, which in this day and age isn't value for money.
By the way although people talk about using sizing apps everyone should be able to do this on their phones in export and on your own pcs in edit. One thing for me having to find ways round this site to get things posted has improved my own limited knowledge.

When it comes to posting pics on this site, I can only say "gourd help us".
