Should I Level

Hi All,

I keep my Caravan on my drive which is sloped downwards, I usually dont bother levelling it and keep it inline with the slant of the dive but I have noticed that this can cause black streaks from the water travelling down when it rains. I initially thought the slant may be good because it wouldn't allow water to pool on top but now I am not sure what is best.

Do you think it is better level or not?

Just leave it how it is.  Ours slopes the other way, nose up, even when we lower the front so the hitch is on the ground, so you are lucky yours goes the other way.

    Buy some Black Streak Remover.

Mine slopes to the rear and to the off-side. This is fine by me. I get some marking on the top of the offside over a length of about 4 feet at the rear. Easy to remove really with a bit of showroom shine (easier than getting water). If it were more level there would still be some streaks, maybe lighter but over a bigger area.

As above, if all you are worried about are black streaks these may happen whatever the slope as your roof may not be really flat. Some people have those (usually yellow) awning rail projectors that seem to make the water 'miss' the sidewall? But again another job to do before hitching, as would 'levelling' your van.

However if they bother you a lot (and it's your van) you could always try levelling to see if that cures the streaks?

Black streaks?, could be the reason some folk use a cover over their LV👍🏻

It is harder to clean the roof than the ends, so I would leave the caravan at an angle so the water runs off the roof. Black streaks clean off easily if tackled regularly so should not be a problem.
