The route finder websites like Via Michelin show road closures. The N154 is now open.

Some on this forum disagree but I maintain that the road is the worst in France - traffic, lorries, slow, no stopping places. Next time I am going via Paris or Le Mans! Only done it northbound though.
Coming back there is a short Autoroute section near Rouen. If you are going to the channel ports stay on it when it becomes a toll road and follow the exit signs to Calais. It’s quite a small toll and it is the quickest route. Don’t be tempted to go through the South of Rouen to avoid the Pèage section and don’t follow the SatNav. The Calais sign is massive you won’t miss it.

If you are willing you are to 'cross-country' there is a perfectly usable alternative route to heading towards Paris. We had a completely easy journey between Evreux and Chartres, by driving into Nonancourt (junction of the N154 just south of Evreux, with the N12 to Paris), heading for Loans, Chenevierres, Chateauneuf en Thymerais, and then Chartres. It took less time than the normal route via Dreux and the horrendous roundabouts, and we saw one car between Nonancourt and Chenevierres.
