Despite some trying to make this a Dog/Anti dog thread,  I have not seen any posts hating dogs.  The dogs are in effect blameless as they cannot read or write and have not signed up to the CMC rules.  Where the problem lies is with those antisocial dog owners who fail to control their dogs and cause annoyance to fellow campers. So don't blame the dogs folks -- blame their owners who can't be bothered to teach their dogs what is acceptable behaviour or take responsibility for their dogs.

My probem is not those with a dog but those with many multiples of dogs.

If you read the CAMC members facebook page then 4 or 5 dogs is not uncommon..

You're way behind Burt, I was in on page one! But just for you........

I don't do prejudice in the form of picking on a particular group, just because they choose different life choices to me. I'm sorry for anyone whose holiday is less than perfect for whatever reason. Happily for us, we make informed choices in the main regarding when, where, with whom and seldom have issues.

If the OP is genuine, and I have my doubts, then unfortunately his proposal, like many knee jerk spluttering over breakfast rants is somewhat flawed, on a par with the committee that came up with a camel, as others have pointed out. Imposition of guidance for visitors is usually best left in the hands of capable, impartial professionals, who understand about fairness, none discrimination, and actually think through how to propose guidance and give staff on the ground the resources to carry the proposals out.

Apologies to the OP if this deflates their bag of wind, but he can take solace from his friend who clearly knows more about this post than a lot of others...........if you get my drift. The Somerset/Bristol area is throwing up some peculiar threads at the moment!

Take care Burt, enjoy rest of your holiday, you are missing some cracking weather over here at the moment!smile

ttda, don't worry about me, we have had  amazing weather over the  last 5 weeks  and today is hotter than ever. Just having an early lunch before we cycle the 150m to the Med for the afternoon.

Enjoy the good English weather while it you can, as you know full well it won't last, unlike here.  laughing

The OP should be trying to change the rules, if he believes it to be necessary, for ALL breaches of rules and not singling out one section of the membership.

Just back from St.Davids.bQuite a number of dogs on site. No problem with yapping however. There were a number of owners who let thyeir dogs out early morning to …… on the grass pitches. Its the owners and nothing on here will make any difference to them.

It sounds as if the OP was on the same site as us last week.  There were many dogs there but only the dogs of one familly caused a nuisabnce, they had 2 small dogs who yapped  almost constatntly all day.  One familly moved their pitch to get away from the noise and I am aware of 2 others who complained; and, yes, it did impact on our enjoyment.  Although not currently dog owners we are dog lovers and have had many dogs in the past.  We did not allow our  dogs to be a nuisance; if they could not have been trained  properly we would not have gone to a busy site, nor to any holiday where we were in close proximity to others.  I do not think I will be supporting the rule change but would ask for the wardens to take firm action when complaints are received.

Slightly off subject and apologies to the OP, but can anybody explain why there is so much resentment by a few on here against Caravanners/Motorhomers who choose to extend their touring experience by touring on the continent,---- It's seen on thread after thread. The CMC in it's wisdom encourages foreign touring, why not accept that as part of the package that joining the CMC includes.  cool

Perhaps the phrase :- "Foreign travel broadens the mind" could explain a lot.wink

As said, earlier by an experienced caravanner, dog nuisance occurs in other countries as well as the UK so why make a huge issue of geographical location. frown

    cool

Surely, the OP ''should' do what the op wants to do, not what TW thinks he should do....undecided

perhaps the OP is not too bothered by other perceived breaches?

“If three separate Full Members complain of the noise from dogs the owners are then informed of the complaint. If the noise carries on they are asked to move to a different pitch. Only asked to leave the site if further three members complain.”

The whole idea is barking mad in my opinion.....smile

So after three complaints the miscreant is spoken to.........

After 4 complaints they are asked to move pitch......?

Err, a bit like the police stopping a motorist for speeding and asking the driver to go and speed on another road, or catching a shoplifter, "Sir, your not allowed to shoplift here any more, please go next door to do it..."      undecided

Then a further three complaints before thrown off the site...?

Making seven complaints before the obvious happens.....

I thought UK justice was soft, but this is a joke......

Either do something about it or forget it but pussyfooting about is pathetic.....

And yes we have got a dog and no we don't let it yap.....wink

    Hi

Not wishing to hijack your thread but you are asking total strangers to give you, a total stranger their name and membership no. Pretty much all the details needed to construct a fake id and all that can go with that.

Just saying (me fresh from my pretty intense GDPR training)undecided
