Hi there everyone and good morning, after a week in verdon gorge we plan a trip to Argeles sur mer, has anyone been and stayed in this resort and can recommend a good ACSI card campsite close to the beach and shops, dog friendly campsite. Are dogs allowed on the beach in mid June. Many thanks in advance for your comments

The resort stretches for 4 or 5 miles along the coast and has over 50 campsites , though not all are in the ACSI book.   The beaches where dogs are allowed are at the farthest northern or southern parts of the resort,  away from the lifeguarded areas. You can choose a campsite there, but that of course will put you further away from the town centre shops, bars and restaurants. I don't think you can have both.

We stopped at Argeles to look for a site three years ago.  It took us about two minutes to realise that we were wasting our time as all the sites were very busy although it was late September.  We retreated inland and found a site with only half a dozen or so other other customers where the peace and quiet was perfect.

Argeles is a long way from the  Verdon gorge, surely there are other spots nearer to hand worth a visit. Argeles is a bit tacky with all the fun of the fair. Either stay in Provence, or head westwards to the Ardeche where your dogs can paddle in the river.

We stayed here a few years ago http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/camping_comanges.html The site has changed its name now but it is a fairly small site and within easy walking distance of the beach.
