I presume that is because of road works? What is afoot, hope it is a bypass, it needs it.

Judging by the various protest signs on that route they must be planning an Autoroute.  Ghastly route in IMHO and well overdue for improvement.

Its not that bad Hitch, just the only busy area on that route south. You would think nothing of it in this country.

I suppose it depends what you are used to Peedee!  OH won't let me go that way again and this year we are planning to miss out Rouen and come back via the ferry from Caen. It just seems to be endless congested roundabouts, lorries doing maximum speed on standard roads and few places to stop. I must admit that we use Autoroutes wherever we can and leave the exploration to the more attractive parts of France. We always go South via Reims and Lyon but we will be exploring the Lot again this year so little choice with the return route. If we were returning to Calais I would be tempted by one of the Paris routes.

There has always been a hold-up where the N154 joins the A12 - because the latter is well used by HGV's.  There are several traffic lights in St Remy sur Avre........... which cause tail-backs and make the problem worse.  We are trialling a 'work around' next time we go back that way, and I'll report the results.  It's a village which is long overdue for one of the by-passes for which French road are so 'famous'!

We went that way last Sunday, the 3rd, so must have started after that, as we had no problems.  On the N12 there were roadworks, but as it was a Sunday, it didn't really have any adverse effects on us, but I did think that on weekdays it could well be a serious problem.
