Loire sites. Amboise - Blois area?
My son, partially disabled daughter in law (CAMC members), caravan and dog are looking for a site for the last two weeks of this month (June). It'll be only their second trip with a caravan (their first was a week last Sept at Chinon) although they have driven a lot abroad, staying in hotels prior to my DIL's spinal problem and getting the dog. I'll be solo in my m/home but I've always just crossed the Channel, wandered South and taken pot luck for a site or at Aires etc. but they will want/need to set up for a few/several days at a time.
We have found so many sites via the various apps, guides and directories that we have become overwhelmed/confused with so much choice so it would be useful to know of sites that members might recommend.
Ideally...
Well kept sanitaires. EHU.
Hardstandings but with trees and grass.
A flat 'ish walk to shops/restos of say 1/2 mile max.
Riverside or pleasant views.
Quiet 'ish. E.g. not beside a busy/noisy main road.
Dog accepted.
Cost is not important.

The campsite at Azay Le Rideau is another good possibility for you and your family - though not quite the area you are considering. I hope the holiday goes well.

We have stayed the the Municipal at Amboise. Very handy site to visit the town but no hardstandings although there is a motorhome aire next door but obviously that won't take caravans. Some pictures here if it helps? http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/camping_municipal_de_l.html

We have found that with so much hard copy and online information available one way and another one tends to get information overload, at the risk of over-planning.
I've travelled most of Europe with my 60 yr old motorbike and tent or latterly with my m/h for more than 30 yrs and never found a really unacceptable site in France, always more or less overnighting at wherever my nose has lead me. We've had the caravan extensively adapted as a solution to my DIL being unable to cope with hotel beds, showers, restaurant chairs etc., but obviously with a caravan my son doesn't want to be setting up and striking camp every few days.
Your help is much appreciated.
I hadn't thought of Azay-Le-Rideau. A beautiful town which I camped at with my m/bike six years ago and a good touring location.
Unfortunately, whilst I was away my tent was shredded by feral cats!
However I managed to replace it before continuing to the to the Pyrenees

Wondering if you cared to share any more info as we are going to that site in September, please? Is it easy to find/approach, how far is Loches, what are the pitches like? Hope you enjoyed your stay!

May I help.
Access? from the north take the ring road around the town to the roundabout with the big supermarket on the south side of town Campsite is sign posted from there.
How far is Loches? A 10 or 15 minute walk from the site along the dog path - mind your step.
Pitches? Are all grass unless they have put in hard standings this year. The website describes the four categories of pitches.
Reviews? Are on the ACSI page and are worth reading.
Did we like it? Yes. The owners have invested a lot of money.
Would we stay more than a few days? Not really. Location, location.....
