Starter kits for caravan
hello everyone! We have just purchased our 1st caravan! (Have a small motorhome at present) and as we don't tow it's being placed on a seasonal site!
We were offered a starter kit which I thought was a bit expensive and would like to see if I can gather items at a lower cost! But what I'm wanting to know is, what are the most important items that I need when we pitch it up? ie: gas bottle, aqua roll etc!
i would really appreciate your advice and any other helpful snippets of information so I can make a list!

A good leisure battery, a waste water container as well as your aquaroll, a spirit level and blocks or ramps to ensure that you're level when pitching up..... and a good sense of humour.

Most of the tackle you will have acquired in your 'homing days, so there should only be the bits for filling with water and emptying of water duty -- levelling, EHU etc etc you'll know all about anyway
or so I assume.What ever you need, obtain etc I just hope you'll put it all to good use.

Thank you for your snippets! probably seemed like a ridiculous question in the first place but, in a small motorhome it's just the basics we have and use camp facilities! With a caravan it will feel like a mansion and its own shower/toilet is pure luxury! Someone drew up a list for me Today and it's proven helpful!

Beware of buying from dealers! Most stuff is a lot cheaper via eBay.

All these questions by Newbies are only ridiculous IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWERS !!
As for general advice if you have a branch of LIDL handy you can get quite a few caravanning items there on their " Special Purchase Days -- you can also buy FORMIL BIOLOGICAL TABS as used in washing machines. Many of us have been converted to them for use in the toilet instead of the Blue / Green fluids !!

eBay, Amazon, Aldi & Lidl and sites like preloved/gumtree etc and any local Facebook 'For sale' groups are all much cheaper ways to buy any caravan items you need as a rule. The best way is to start with the bare minimum, akin to your MH days and see what you really 'need' during a trip away. It's also a good idea to see what other folk do and chat with them about what they bring or use. Gas, water and waste containers are the only real essentials with a hook up lead if you want leccy.
A lot will depend on how you want to use your van - long extended 'touring' vs leaving the van on a fully serviced pitch for several weeks or lots of short breaks away and certainly always on EHU vs 'off grid' for example will mean you might want different things to get the best from your van.

Either in cassette of toilet or the main body of a washing machine - as appropriate according to need.

In the removable tank of the toilet, after emptying & rinsing clean, is the place for those liquid Bio Tabs, Screen Name ....C2 just before replacing it in the 'van. They do a good job of treating the 'contents' without splashing hard to remove blue ( or green ) stuff all over your shoes etc
. They have proved so very popular that the makers of the Blue and Green fluids have themselves started making similar soluble 'pods' but at a price !!{ With sincere apologies to ihatew0rk for being only Two (2) years eight months late in replying to the same question
