Weather forecasting in France etc
off to France next week for 3 weeks, and intending to let destinations evolve, dependant on weather. We like the sun! Even may edge over to Italy or Spain if need be. Provence is where we are headed, at least for a break for a few days, but where then?
just wondered if anyone has tips or suggestions as to what they have found to be the most reliable weather app to use? We tend to use Weather+ in U.K., but add worldwide destinations as needed for holiday plans (caravan or otherwise). But not wholly confident of accuracy sometimes.

MeteoFrance is the official national government organisation. LaChaine Meteo is run by a commercial TV company. Take your pick according to who has better graphics and better weather on the day.

It sounds like Meteo France is very popular; the screen is too messy for me and I can't stand the ads at the bottom of the screen. I pay a sub' annually of £9 for WeatherPro (Meteo Group) which gives lots of detail and very clear and the pro version gives upto 14 days weather forecast, across Europe and with detail down to the smallest village. Very useful for planning, but I know some people will not pay for these apps if they can get something for free.
For the £9, I have it on my pad, my iphone and my wife's pad and phone.
And, the BBC have just contracted their weather business to Meteo Group in preference to the UK Met Office.
At the end of the day you will settle for the one you prefer. Horses for courses!

We are in the Lot and use Meteo France but OH has a piece of kit that that takes the adverts out.
Weather at present very wet and chilly but getting warmer in the next few days, a friend of ours who live 2 villages from us said it has been the worst May for a very long time.
Also the weather through the winter has affected the box plants around the area of St Cirq la Popie they all have blight or the moth problem so a lot of brown box about at present.
The rivers are very full and fast flowing so no boats about due to the weather.
We do look at other websites ie Accuweather on his phone version very detailed.
Enjoy your holiday.

Another vote for Meteo France. We are in the Ardeche where it has been a bit mixed with some torrential rain but also nice days.Monday and Tuesday for the whole of France look grim but that gives it a chance to change for when you arrive!
