Web Site Problems with Chrome

Is it just me or has anyone else had a problem amending a booking using Google Chrome? I tried it a few times and then went on chat and had it done manually. Recently I wanted to extend my stay on a site, went on Chrome, no joy at all, switched to a different browser and it worked perfectly. I would be interested in other members views.

I never use Chrome but that’s very interesting seeing Helen told us that Chrome is the browser of choice for this site. undecided

It's running well at the moment, BB, even on my fibre connection at home.smile

To be fair, it wasn’t too bad yesterday so I suspect somebody may have applied a plaster.

I use a BMW forum which runs despicably slowly on Chrome but like lightening on Microsoft Edge...........

So I've tried Edge for CT...........

    Alas, still woefully slow..........

I've tried I/E, Edge, Firefox and Safari. There's no difference at all. My conclusion is that it’s not the browser, the OS, my connection or the device. That only leaves the site.

I have used Chrome for this website for a couple of years now with no issues except what we have experienced recently in terms of speed. Must admit that I have not tried to amend a booking recently.

We have stopped using Chrome, I don't think it makes much difference on here, the site either works well or it doesn't.

IT ain't Chrome - It's this poorly specified and configured website that causes the problems.surprised

I have tried amending bookings several times in last few months using Chrome (Win 10) and at what should be the final "confirm" page it never accepts it but always returns to the same page "you have not amended your booking yet....". Now found it works perfectly first time with Edge. All other functions work fine on chrome (make a booking, delete a booking, view a booking) but "amend"  never works. Same result with Chrome on Android.

Usually when a browser returns you to the previous page it is usually an indication that not all the questions have been answered correctly. With an amendment do you have to tick the T&C's box? Sometimes with Chrome its worth clearing your cache. I use Chrome almost exclusively for using this website with few issues.

Why is it a mod deems it necessary to remove a post that strikes a chord with everybody on CT ie the site is generally so slow.
My post agreed .... and also removed

Snails can be pretty quick compared to slugs; this site is akin to an elderly sloth.

To save anyone looking it up slugs are much faster than sloths.

I find the site to be slow, but have never had the problem you mention. I don’t use chrome generally but it might be that your version is corrupted.  Go to your App Store and download another browser, I use Firefox and Vivaldi. Uninstall chrome and redownload. Try it and if not happy use the other browser.

The problem is not browser specific. I have tried with Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome and loading time is the same for all on them; dismal.

Well I last posted this on 28 Aug 2019:

"I have tried amending bookings several times in last few months using Chrome (Win 10) and at what should be the final "confirm" page it never accepts it but always returns to the same page "you have not amended your booking yet....". Now found it works perfectly first time with Edge. All other functions work fine on chrome (make a booking, delete a booking, view a booking) but "amend" never works. Same result with Chrome on Android."

Guess what (as I have just found out again) - nothing has changed despite all the soothsayers and moderators saying nothing wrong with Chrome, must be my computer etc.

Have tried it on a windows 10 pc, two android tablets, one android phone and all give the same result when using Chrome. Home internet or 4G makes no difference either.

Note it is only "AMENDING" a booking where it fails, other functions seem to work (Book, Delete).

So to amend a booking I still have to go into MS Edge (and doubtless other browsers would work too). But AMEND a booking in Chrome - does not work. Yes I have cleared cache etc etc. And all my apps are up to date.

don't think any software will be perfect till the CAMC comes into the 21st century or they get some kids in to run it for them.
