Does anyone know if it is possible to get your name and address removed from the French "Database"  @ the Ministere de L'Environnment when you sell on that vehicle ?

    hi jay

i do know that once the car has the CritAir sticker it stay with the car for ever. i don't know if you can take your name off , i do hope so as you may get other peoples fines etc.they say its with the owner of the car which is on the log book so hopefully it will change automatically.

I don't know the answer but I have sold at least two cars with a German Umwelt Plakette on and never given it a second thought! If you are concerned about things like fines then I would imagine they would be inclined to go by the vehicle registration database which would take them to the current registered owner. You could always try sending them and e-mail?

Thank you both.   Use of number plate via DVLA  being contacted for owner should it ever be needed for fines etc. was what I thought may occur so will not concern myself further.

The German sticker is not linked in any way to whoever it was issued to first, only to the number plate, so any possible fines, etc. will automatically be directed to the current owner.

I sold a tow vehicle recently and sent an e mail  to Crit Air who initially said they could not cancel it but when I went back quoting Data Protection Act they responded that they had Deleted User all of my personal details.

I have both the German and French stickers and they both have the registration number. If I was to sell my car I would have to take the stickers off as I have a personalised number plate and that plate would be on my new car. That would of course mean i would have to get new stickers for the new car as the registration document would have different details!
