I like both sites but if I was interested in visiting the  Knaresborough area then I'd not look at Hebden Bridge as an alternative.

It would cost quite a bit in fuel and time to travel for a start.

Not this weekend, surely? I think you're looking at Bank Holiday rates! undecided

We have just had a lovely eight day stay on a very nice CL. £98 for hardstandings, hook up, huge pitch with picnic tables, very nice tea room on site. We are currently happy bunnies!laughing

Even at the current £24.10 for 2 adults, standard pitch, it is expensive for April!

Only used one club site so far this year found better and cheaper else where including some superb pub stop overs.Where as before we would rarely use a non club site but extended peak periods and prices are not for us.

Love2Stay isn't your average Club Site though. Bit more on offer, different market I would say.

It's affiliated to the club, and offer £1 per night discount. What I mean is that for families caravanning it's not a  always a cheap option.

Organisation like ours is run by "empire builders", looking to justify high salaries. The members are far down the pecking order when it comes t their needs. I am probably their biggest critic.

due to weekends, Bank Holidays, school holidays in each of the different countries of the UK, Ramadan, Yom Kippur etc (and make no mistake, these other 'special days' will soon find their way onto the Clubs ever more 'inclusive' calendar) it's actually quite difficuly to get a full week where all seven days are charged at the 'low rate' despite it being in a 'low season'undecided

We have used 3 sites thus far on present trip. First site a commercial near Garstang. Washroom facilities clean and modern but not up to CC standards. Price about £25. Second CC Meathrop Fell. Around £19 I think. Currently on Glenearly independent site. £25 a night but £100 for our usual 5 night stay and so for us £20 a night with good free wifi and fairly good and well presented facilities.

Next site CC at New England Bay at £16.30

For me I don't find CC sites dearer at this time of year

Over there especially in Holland and Germany the price goes up over bank holiday periods even if in low Acsi season so it’s not just the club that rises prices. For a couple of nights at the start of my trip next month we are having to pay the high season rate.  Still it’s where we want to be so will happily pay the price.

Like us (and plenty of others) doesn't Fish mix and match his choice of sites and providers?

...and doesn't this wider usage and experience give a better understanding of each providers price foibles?

IMHO, it certainly does, compared to someone who sticks to one supplier...wink

From the club’s point of view, if the ‘biggest critics’ continue to give it business by paying membership fees, buying products and using sites, the club must feel it’s doing something right.

but that wasn't Fisherman's point at allundecided

And secondly if he is their biggest critic why does he still use them? I mean not just a minor gripe sort of person but their biggest critic ever? Seem odd? If I was the biggest critic of something I would not use/buy/go near it?

Our 8 nights in July this year are going to cost us £23.80 per night on a Club site.  Moving on to a commercial site the following week will cost us £29.64 per night.

I'm happy with those sort of figures, given the quality of the Club sites and the facilities on them.

I think it might be you who have missed the point.

you say that because Fish is 'the clubs biggest critic' he shouldn't use their products....

anyone can (is free to) criticise any organising for any part of their operation....we might not agree with some part of their policy or 'manifesto', yet if their product is what we want, when we want it and at an acceptable price, we might still choose to buy...

Fish, says he is a critic of certain aspects of the clubs 'hierarchy', I have criticised many other things about the club (pricing, bookings, arrivals, etc....there's much room for improvementwink) but this can be 'parked' whe it comes to booking a pitch...

the two 'positions' aren't mutually exclusive.

you're being deliberately misleading. I never said he shouldn't use their products, I asked why if he was their biggest critic why did he keep using them

sadly there is no point discussing things with you if you make things upundecided
