Could it be the cost of changing the Club's identity last year, along with decreasing membership, acquisition of a new site and increasing operating costs have lead to these higher pitch charges?

I can't recall reading about why or how these increases have occurred, perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.

It's only profit that makes things expensive and in business, I'd sooner have a little of something on a regular basis, than a whole lot of nothing.

I wonder how many empty pitches the Club will have due to these prices?

Or is it because we now have "accountants" at the helm?

The only Club site we use regularly is North York Moors near Whitby which costs around £15 making it the same as a CL, which are our preferred choices for a stay. North York Moors has no toilet block etc which is perfect for us as it remains cheap and quiet. We have never failed to get in at last minute. Does that say most people prefer sites with all the facilities? Can't remember ever being asked by the Club as to what I prefer...

Commercial sites have recognised that a good toilet block and a nicely laid out park puts bums on seats. Many are now as good, if not better that the club and cheaper too. The only disadvantage is you have to pay a deposit - but this stops booking more than one site

Toby, you cannot book more than one site for the same date with the club.

I'm really finally glad that my (oft derided) message is finally getting through. If club sites are too expensive and don't offer what you think is value for your money then simply go elsewhere.smile

So true corners ,there are far more who consider both the major site providers are giving a service at a cost that is continually keeping the majority of sites busy for most of their seasonal opening dateswink

Personally I think that the CC have pitched their rates too high at this time of the year for some of the period. Generally however I have little problem with their rates. I have yet to find a commercial site that I personally think to be better than a club site other than particular location. The facilities are not better than CC sites nor the general maintenance IMO

I can't see that is true at all, the club has just over 200 sites out of around 2000 nationally, how can that be monopoly? And don't forget there is the other club as well?

For every club site in a particular region there will be certainly be two or three other non club sites of the same standard? Again how can that be a monopoly?

I would say that the only monopoly the club has is in sites with consistently high standards.

I cannot see why you consider that CC has a monopoly of any sort. There are plenty of alternatives.

I use other sites besides the CC sites. Guess what ....... that is one of the reasons I prefer CC sites. If I found that I preferred the alternatives then I would use them.

You seem to like the Morris Leisure site at Betws Y Coed. I have used it along with 3 other Morris Leisure sites over the past few years (and before). They are OK but, for me, not as good as CC sites in general

if think the 'club std' is not consistent across two sites only 10 miles apart.

after a lovely few days at Broadway, we thought we would try out Moreton in Marsh for a couple of days.....its 'even' more expensive than Broadway, so we expected great things..)

however, without meaning to upset anyone, IMHO the general site ambiance, spacing, pitch condition isn't a patch on Broadway....

site roads are narrow, and mucky, pitches (even the awning one we are on) feel small and cramped.....even for us with just a single unit on it..

the layout has vans backing on to each other (no doubt as close as the regs allow, in order to cram as many vans in as possible) it's crowded, cramped and not worth £32+ a night, so we will not return...

i was expecting so much more, something like Broadway, but M-in-M is a real let down....

the town is nice and we'll do a bit of cycling tomorrow, but £66 to park the van on a site like this for a couple of days is taking it.....

    disappointed of Surbitonfrown

I don't understand why you say the club has a "near monopoly" when we're so often pointed in the direction of alternatives? undecided

We tend to use club sites local to us in low season when they give us good value, although we do have one upcoming booking for a "honeypot" site as it's where we want to be for a particular event. Otherwise it's mostly CLS for us.

Just referring back to the OP, we wouldn't pay those prices but I'm willing to bet there will be other sites in Bridlington charging more. But you've done the sensible thing - it's too dear so go elsewhere. Complaining about prices but then using club sites anyway is never going to give the club and incentive to examine itso pricing structure!

well. again it's horses for courses.....we've stayed at ML Ludlow and IMHO it's better than any club site (either club) we've been on....and, despite what some might think, we've done quite a few, certainly plenty enough to understand the Club 'std'...

Personally Morris are streets ahead in customer service and gives what the customer want's,the only saving grace cc has it does not charge for booking and employs retired people who bump up their pension, to me they are another commercial company no better no worse only they charge £50 odd quid for it.

a rather brief (curt?) conclusion, Alan.....in what respect does ML not cut the mustard.....?

At Ludlow I'd suggest the site roads and layout, office, shop, shower block and pitches were all a notch above the club 'Std'.....add in and adult only area and 3 for 2 offers and it was a great site/location at a great price...

where would you say they fall short, I'm sure they're the sort of business that would love to get some feedback.....

Not this customer, hooker. Next week (low season) 3 nights would cost us 10p short of £100! surprised

I'm a bit weary and didn't feel like waffling BB.

I have found all the ML sites a bit soulless. I know some would say the same about CC sites. As far as the facilities go I cannot remember them in detail at Ludlow. Sid they have privacy cubicles BB? The sites offer me nothing over and above CC sites and I find them soulless and impersonal.

Yes they do have 3 for 2 offers from time to time but probably not when I want them and that would not be a major attraction anyway. I have used them for location and would do again if it uited.

Under duress we only use Club Sites out of desperation and take the fee on the chin. To be honest I have found the very limited number of club sites we have pitched on are a bit too sterile, carpark like and the total opposite of what we think Caravanning is all about. However, I say all that, the one at Whitley Bay has a mix of CL/Club Site about it and an amazing view so that was worth paying more. I think the booking fee kills it if you just go for a weekend.
