The trouble is, although in the OP's case this is not a problem, there will be sites and times of year when it is. Dates for events are often not released over a year before. So potentially you would have several weeks that are held for many months, meaning someone else can't book it and goes elsewhere. The club probably aren't bothered, as at unpopular sites it does not matter and at popular sites they will sell the released dates anyway. As you say there is no foul, it is totally within the rules. As to wether it is desirable, that is a totally different question.

Whilst I would prefer to not have deposits, booking two 3 week slots and then amending / cancelling, is probably less likely with the C&CC due to the deposit system.

Despite all our expectations that today would be a mini frenzy day I don't think it has happened. I had a look at Rowntree Park and Baltic Wharf about 20 minutes ago and there were still non awning pitches available for Easter 2019 and both types of pitch most weekends in April 2019. I have no doubt that under the old system these would be booked by this late in the day.

I think that the main reason is probably that many members are totally unaware of the new system so maybe it will change as news spreads.

Sorry to disappoint takethedogalong and Kennington but the black swan at oldstead, man behind the curtain, Leeds both take the full cost when booking - no shows are a big problem in yorkshire - same problem that the club has - people book 3restaurants then go to one on the night. MBTC even takes the service charge!

That’s Tykes for you! surprised   (Sorry, friends.embarassed)

At least booking 3 for choice can’t be done on a club site.

You piqued my interest Toby! Black Swan does rooms as well I see. Not run of the mill eateries, but seems they must have problems with no shows. In which case, good on them for taking the cash upfront. laughing

Somehow, I think the majority of good restaurants do not take the money first, I presume you never see it again if things go wrong? Not good. frown

I wasn't talking about you Brue and yes some months could be linked, July and August?

I was just commenting on that no matter what system is in place people still complain.
