Does anyone have a picturesque route from the UK to Spain

    I've also posted some routes (with timings, costs, distances from Michelin) on the other thread in this section....

    again this only from Bordeaux so depends where the start point (crossing) is and the destination....

    So is over the top of the Pyrenees, but with the questioner not saying what time of year he is going, whether he has small or large Motorhome or is towing caravan, and where he wants to go, I am reluctant to get my maps out !

    A few years ago, on a cold, foggy and frosty January morning, our motorhome was one of of only two on the the 09.20 ferry to Calais. When we were on the car deck getting ready to disembark, the driver of the other 'van approached us. " Are you going to Spain" he asked. When I said we were, he replied " Can we follow you?". We were going different ways on a different timetable so that didn't happen!

    For the next few weeks we wondered if they ever made it!

    For 18 years I towed my van through France from Calais to southern Spain but now I take the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao/Santander.   However once in northern Spain I plan a different route south to the Costa del Sol each year.   If you look at my website you can see the routes and the places I stopped off at.

    You quite often see open ended posts like this and when you ask for more information it is rarely given. Dunno why there is never a further response but I can't be bothered to offer my advice if nothing further is forthcoming
