Tried to find guidance on this with no luck. I can insert the link into my post, using copy and paste, but when I press reply, sometimes the link is live, other times it isn't. I am using an iPad with Safari, anyone got any tips on how to make this work more successfully?

Thank you. I am aiming to add to CL reviews, but copying reviews I have done elsewhere.

Have you tried just typing the web site address on here? If I type in, say,

    www.visitscotland.com

the link immediately becomes live without doing anything else.

I also use the link system without problems (most of the time!)  but it might be android that works better? I'm on my laptop at the moment, so on another system.

Nope, didn't work. This website doesn't like Apple devices, could be that.

Don't have tablet with me. Basically click on URL addy. Copy.

Then in post click on link button. When pop up comes up paste the address in.

Preferably click in the 'Open in New Window box and select yeas. Then click OK

That's what I am doing ET. Bring up webpage, click on URL, choose "copy" then on CC post, click until "paste" appears, then click paste.

Works on every other website I use but not this one. Think it is to do with iPad and this website, they just don't get on!

Yerbutt to paste as a link you do not simply paste into reply box. You click on the link symbol above the reply box. Are you doing that TDA?

Use the 'chain link' in the menu above your post in the compose box as ET says, when the box pops up paste the long address in there.

Or in your compose write <LINK HERE>, highlight it and then go to the above 'chain link' in the menu and past it there. The <LINK HERE> will become your shortcut then.

EDIT: OK, all sorted before my slow typing laughing

I only ever fill in the URL addy. I prefer that as it shows to others where the link is aimed

Not so. There is no link box when typing a review! So that idea won't work sadly. Parts of this website really are a frustrating load of sphericals to put it mildly!

I just assumed there would be a link box on review posting section. How wrong I was! But at least we are getting some answers as to why so few reviews are completed......you have to undertake Krypton Factor in terms of putting anything on, such as photos or website links! Shall I be bothering any time soon! Not on here, I will spread the word elsewhere!

My sincere apologies to CL owners.

The system used to be a faff but I’ve noticed it seems to have changed lately.

If you paste the link and then hit the return key, it seems to go live.

If, however, you paste the link and then go straight to Reply, it doesn’t go live.

It is isnt it! Yorkshire Tourist Board is really good, its no wonder thousands of folks are visiting.

Just tried the press return method in a review, doesnt work, still wont become live, so I can't link in review from elsewhere. ho hum.....

The only problem with this method is that the link takes you away from the Club website and you have to remember to use the back button if you wish to return. More often than not I usually close such a link down by mistake which I find annoying as I then have to log in again. This is the reason why you should follow the prescribed method by using the web link symbol in the menu above the posting pane and answer yes to it opening in a new web page.

BTW I have just had a look, via edit at TW's link he posted. If you highlight it and hit the web link button it does allow you to ask for it to open in a new window.

On your other point about the web link menu not being available when submitting a review. This could well be that the powers that be don't won't links? However I think it a perfect legitimate question to ask of the CM to establish whether it's on purpose or just an omission.

The only way to add a link to a review is to use the direct method because it's not possible to use the link system, I think that was TDA's question in the OP?

I don't think reviewers often leave links but it is possible that way.

It's a pity TDA, but the web site seems to vary according to the device being used at any particular time. For the first few years I could add a direct link but not a link via the system link. Then, for me, it stopped working, now I can do it again. The inconsistencies of the set up must deter a lot of users.

Indeed. I used Live Chat one time to try and get answers to a particular issue I was having. The inference was that some functions didn't work as well with iPads, so did I have another device? My response was yes, a state of the art Mac Book, but the problems are still there. Anything Apple combined with this website takes some pondering! One or two things do seem to have been resolved, since then, but not all.
