Every time I move from one part of the forum to another I keep getting a Pop up from my AVG Antivirus telling me a site I've never heard of has been blocked because the Server certificate has been revoked.

Anyone else getting a similar Pop up ?

I've never had a warning from my AVG like this before on this site or others.

Or is it just me ?

I got something similar with this website when we put a new anti-virus package on this laptop.  It stopped without me doing anything to stop it.  I think I mentioned it somewhere in the depths of this forum but wouldn't like to try to find it again!

I've not updated my AVG recently (should I ?) and I've just done an earlier date restore on my PC.

Since then I've been on half a dozen other forums and not had the Pop up - just this forum.

We're doomed I tell you, doomed.

Gave up on AVG years ago as it didn't find it worked very well. No problems with Norton.

I switched off my PC last night and tried again this morning.

I still get the same pop up on this forum - but no other forums.

    Very peculiar.

I've never had any issues with AVG before and I've done a scan of AVG this morning which shows everything seems to be okay.

    Any other thoughts ?

Isn't static hotjar a data gathering tool, that can be used to provide info on what pages / sites you use and therefore allow targeted advertising. If your system is blocking it that would not seem to be a bad thing, wether it has a current certificate or not.

It does however, as you are only getting it pop up on this site, raise the question of if the CC are utilising it.

The Forums software is using it, but it can be whitelisted as its only gathering visitor data numbers and not secret information.

I use Adblock as an addon to my browser to block it from running, this is the script within the Forums code that Adblock caused it to fail from loading.

Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://static.hotjar.com/c/hotjar-264549.js?sv=5”.

You can whitelist in AVG or get an Ad blocker for your browser.

    Thanks.

    I already have an Adblocker.

Please, how do I 'whitelist' in my AVG ?

Should be 'Settings' then 'Exceptions' but only you would have a better idea knowing your version.

If you are happy that the Caravan Forum poses no threat to you then adding the site to exceptions should stop AVG from scanning it 'on the fly' hence ignoring it. But it will still be protecting your device from any nasties.

BTW I use Adblock Plus and it stops the script from running.

The forum address is secure when AdBlock stops 'hotjar', then when I let it run by stopping AdBlock it shows me its not secure and more details tell me the server certificate is revoked.

    Thanks again for your input.

I've just come back at midday without altering anything on the PC or its accessories and the Pop up hasn't popped up.

Perhaps it was a 24 hour irritant - or some snow on the cables.

Could be worse. If you had the ubiquitous white, you'd never have found it. wink
