Galipolli Italy - sites

We are visiting Sorrento in May and from there going to Matera and then Otranto but wondering whether to go via Galipolli and then round the coast to Otranto.    We haven't been to this area before so we are wondering whether it is worth stopping at Galipolli or heading straight for Otranto.  Any views much appreciated.   Thanks.
