Clean air stickers - important update

The CCC link in Val's post leads you to a site which says that the cost of a Umwelt for Germany is 29 euros. This is wrong. The cost is 5 euros (2016 cost); so, be careful where you get one from. A garage in Germany/TUV station is the best bet - ensure you have your V5 with you.
The link on Emission Zones through Overseas Driving Regulations in the O'seas section could easily be missed. In particular, regular visitors may not read this detail. The Club should make these regulations clearer.

We bought the French one on line, but have not been to France since, but we have been to Germany.
We went, last year, when our VW was about 6 months old, to a VW dealership near our first stop. Showed our logbook and requested a sticker.
Sticker was produced, put on car, and payment declined as we had purchased a new VW.
That was unexpected, and appreciated!

I have posted, somewhere in this thread, not to buy any stickers through the original website I linked to - which is merely to give an idea of the hugely extended requirement for a sticker in France. I didn't check that the C&CC website also referred people to unofficial sources.
Buy all vignettes from the official sources and here is the one for France.
The Driving Regulations Comeyras refers to are here: Driving Requirements in Europe - but the link on there takes you to 'Urban Access Regulations' which is not up to date and doesn't give any mention of the extended zones referred to in my original post.
As for a lot of other things, there are many unofficial sites out there, which will try to take extra money for doing something you can do yourself cheaper.

Very similar to our MH, which is Euro 5; we also have a green German sticker, 4, and a yellow French sticker, 2.
All this is becoming so complicated, as it seems there will be different rules for different areas/towns within the same country, depending on the level of pollution.
What happens if you are driving in an area which was ok to use with your sticker, then halfway through it changes, ie before you have left that area? How can you then prove that at point of entry you were within the "rules"? Must admit that although we got a sticker last year, I haven't read up in any great detail how the scheme actually works in practice; must do so before our next trip.
