Cheapest Eurotunnel Deals

Apart from using Tesco vouchers (which we haven't got), are there other ways to get a price reduction on Eurotunnel return journey?

Do the club still do ferry deals involving reductions with camping cheques?

£88 for 4 'club' vouchers is OTT for low season pitches

All of our many Eurotunnel crossing have been with the help of Tesco Club Card points so we have never had to pay full price. I seem to recall the Club offering around a 10% discount on standard fees. Eurotunnel themselves do lots of offers but none of them seem to include caravans or motorhomes. One thing to be aware of if booking via the Club is that the crossings can only be amended via the Club which probably costs as much as any saving and not as convenient. You can save money by using the less popular crossing. Eurotunnel are quite flexible within two hours either side of the booked crossing so a direct booking might be worth exploring.

We always book through the Club to get a reduction compared to Eurotunnel website prices.

Never had to amend yet so if that cost occurred then I would accept it, but I never book anything with the thought in mind that something might go wrong.

If you have more than one holiday a year you could find a 'partner' and buy a package of Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller crossings between you for £44 per crossing (off peak times and dates).  Even adding the supplements on the top means that you still get a good priced crossing.

We've just shared with a couple who were 'advertising' for a partner to share a Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller joint account.  We'd already had a year of Frequent Traveller shared with our son, but he now has a baby and won't be surfing or snowboarding in France this year, so we were interested in finding someone else to share with.  The couple are from our local town - and we'd already shared emails about caravanning, so when I saw her post on another forum we jumped at the chance.  We met yesterday and shared the cost - we paid for six crossings, they paid for four but either of us can add on more crossings should we choose to travel more often - and you simply pay for the extra supplements or extra crossings using your nominated credit card which you need to show when travelling.

Has anyone priced up the short crossings with vouchers?  Is there any saving to be made that way, perhaps?  I can't do it any more because I'm no longer a member but it would be interesting to know if there are any significant discounts.

Thanks David.  I thought it wouldn't be a 'negative' effect on price like you had.  However if someone is planning to stay on a site where they could use the vouchers as well as the crossing it would be a saving worth having.

    ValDa,

I've been looking all afternoon at various alternatives to Eurotunnel, and there are advantages with P&O crossings on Dover/Calais and Hull/Zeebrugge. My dates are 21st Apr out and 4th/5th June return. For Dover/Calais including 4 vouchers worth £88, the price was £210, making the crossing an excellent £122. Hull/Zeeb was £392 inc the 4 vouchers and cabins.

    David,

    I couldn't get Portsmouth/Caen below £341 (inc the 4 vouchers). Out on Sat 21st @14.45, return Mon 4th June @08.30 - making the crossing is £253

Have you looked at the Harwich/Hook of Holland crossings - they have some very good deals if you enter SALE in the box when getting the quote.

    Hi David,

I've just tried various mid week dates, even mid Apr to Mid May, and I am still coming up £341! The £282 would be a lot sweeter. Perhaps its my 7.5m caravan. I'll check again.

RESULT!! Believe it or not, it was the height of the car. I've recently bought a new Tiguan, and put the height in at 2m (didn't think it would make any difference, as we have a 2.8m caravan behind), but reducing the car height to 1.8m did the trick - £282.50 - happy days

Val, I have never done Harwich, I can see its possible to get around £150 for crossing, but I'm heading to Bay of Roses, and the drive through Holland and Belgium looks very 'busy' compared to rural France

Thanks again David. I couldn't quite believe it was the car height.

We have been that route for the last 2 years, hence why I was keen to find out how you got the lower price. Last time we used Riva Bella, which I thought was Ok, and better access than the site a few miles further down the road towards Caen.
