Thanks for all the advice I got on driving to Spain, due to all the distances I would need to drive each day the "gaffer" as agreed it would be a bit of a push so we are now looking at Brittany

So again now looking for advice on sites around the Brittany area down to Bordeaux

looking for sites with things to do on site plus walks to nearby towns etc and may be doing  2or3 nights on each site Looking for about three sites to stop at

Thanks in advance

What sort of sites do you prefer?  The four and five star sites with waterslides, discos and cabarets are already listed on here - click Overseas Holidays at the top of this page and then Overseas sites.

But there are other sites less glamorous than that those, although some of our own favourites in Brittany are only open from mid June to mid September so perhaps you could give an idea when you are going as well as the sort of sites you would like.

    Regards.

    https://www.eurocampings.co.uk/

These are the two sites I mainly use for reviews on caravan sites, the second one does foreign sites as well. You really need to choose your area first and then look for a camping site.

The other thing I do is Google the town name and camping sites which usually brings up sites on tripadvisor for recommendations or otherwise.

You wouldn't like the sites we stay on as we prefer nothing to do on site but my blog may give you information on what there is to see in the three areas we stayed at within where you want to go. That might help you choose an area.

The sort of sites we like are ones that are a bit lively (like pentewan sands Cornwall) where people are out and about not sat in there vans all day and night. Pub/ bar within walking distance for a few drinks...

Was thinking of going mid Aug, doing one night stop over between Calais and Brest then about 3 nights at La Plaga then ??? Open to suggestions

Yes, that's clear. so here are several points which might help you.

Calais to Brest and back again is 900 miles. Have you time for that or would it better to use a ferry to St Malo or Roscoff?

Sites "like Pentewan Sands" will certainly need booking in advance for a mid August visit. You will not be able to freewheel for a few days at a time to that sort of big seafront site in August without booking ahead, although smaller inland sites are still possible that way.

Sites with town/ village bars and cafes within walking distance tend to be municipal sites run by the local commune, but they may not be big enough/busy enough sites for you. Sites with their own bars may suit you better.

You obviously have one site in mind but I'm afraid I don't know it. I will venture just one other possible for you - Camping la Rodaven at Chateaulin. It's within walking distance of the town and within driving distance of the big spectacular headlands to the west.

    Regards.

P.S the 900 miles round trip is a lot better than the 1000 miles plus we was looking at in three days each way.
