Touring Norway in a Motorhome

We are planning a long trip to Scandinavia aiming to reach the arctic circle in a hope to catch the northern lights. Has anyone taken the Bognes - Skarberget ferry? We are struggling to find out much about this on the internet and need to know if you can definitely take a motorhome upto 8m long on this.

You'd better crack on with your planning otherwise all you'll see is the midnight sun.

To see the northern lights you have to go in the winter so hope your van is winterised, well insulated and you have a refillable gas system to supply your heating. As I recall most ferries take trucks so I don't see why you would have a problem with an 8m motorhome. However, anything over 6m is heavily penalised and you will find it very expensive.

That is near where my sister lives.  All the ferries take buses and huge lorries, so an 8m MH will not be a problem.

We have taken many ferries with our 8.73 m MH towing a car, total about 13.5m, and don't feel we were heavily penalised?  You pay per the space occupied, just like when we paid more to purchase a longer van!

While on the subject of towing on an A Frame we have travelled through notorious Germany and Spain without issue.  At Barcelona we towed off the ferry and took a wrong turn into a police security area, the police woman was most appogetic at asking us to u-turn the rig!  Not saying we have got away with it, but we have so far.
