Sites in the Carmargue area open in March.
Could you please help by suggesting sites in the Carmargue area open in March.
Also around the towns of: Arles, Montpellier, Aigues-Mortes, Nimes and Narbonne.
We are motor-homers but would prefer sites rather that Aires.
Thank you.

For the Camargue. - Camping de la Brise at Saintes Maries de la Mer will be open, but I haven't stayed there. Otherwise trawl through the 26 sites listed for that area on Camping France.com and check their opening dates.
For Nimes. - Camping de la Bastide is open all year and has a bus service into town which would suit you.
For Narbonne - Camping Figurotta is also open all year- but is a few miles out of town and you would need to take your vehicle off site for visits as there is no bus service.
For the others - Google name of town + Camping and see what comes up.

Not too many sites open in that area in March. I have never stayed in the Camargue as when we lived in France we could visit the area for day trips. The Club O'seas handbook lists a few as does ACSI. However, the season does not really start until April. Be aware that should the Mistral decide to blow the Camargue gets a direct hit and in March the wind will be cold! Aigues-Mortes is a nice walled town. I would comment that the weather in Languedoc can be quite chilly in March, a better time to visit the area is late April/May/June when you should get lovely weather.

Given that in March you won't need to book, it will be much easier to find possibilities if you can wait for the Eurocampings (ACSI) website to be updated with 2018 sites and dates. At the moment you can't search for dates into 2018 - but updates details should be available in the next few weeks.
March is a fantastic time for bird-watching in the Camargue, and in the Etangs to the east and south of Narbonne.
It's also worth a trip down to the Aiguamolls Reserve in the Bay of Rosas, and even down to the Ebro delta.
