Swift & Bailey Warranty Work

I was informed today that Marquise has rationally decided not to accept any further warranty work for Swift or Bailey products other than cover their obligations to customers who have already purchased from them.

This was confirmed by Swift Customer Services as far as Swift products go.

From this, I can only assume that they will not be selling new products from these two marques from here on.

Although I didn’t purchase from Marquise their local service centre was convenient and their system of appointments am or pm, unlike my dealer who seems only prepared to offer a week slot, has been far more customer friendly.

There must be other Dorset / West Country service centres who have a focus on customer service!!

Marquis have had terrific sales with the Benimar brand and now have really got things moving with Mobilvetta, both brands being reintroduced with far better value ranges after years away from the UK.

Things are changing in the UK market place with more and more continental brands eating into the overall sales pie...

perhaps Marquis are just responding to their success with these (and other) brands (auto sleepers?) and cant be doing with the perpetual warranty issues with Bailey and Swift?

I am sure I read recently that Marquis was going to start selling Bailey Motorhomes. Unless they have stopped selling them they also did their own dealer special range of Swift Motorhomes. Perhaps with all their other activity mentioned by BB they don't want to get involved with servicing beyond dealing with their own customers?

I think that this is due to the fact that Autosleepers and Marquis has been bought out and are now part of the Trigano Group. Also in that group are Auto-Trail and continental brands Benimar, Chausson, Euro Mobil, Tribute and Roller team.
Also, Pilote has just acquired Danbury campervan specialists and Rapido has acquired Wildax.

exactly, PG, the big boys are getting their ducks in a row for a post brexit situation that might make importing all these vans to the uk a bit 'trickier' than it is now.

as mentioned elsewhere, Hymer bought out Elddis, again, i think this is provide post Brexit manufacturing capacity for their portfolio.

Numerous dealers have of late, tended to only take on warranty work  of products sold by them,as the manufacturer's do not pay the full cost of the work and give unrealistic times for how long the work should take

...while this is undoubtedly true (in some cases) it has nothing to do with   a large franchise turning away from two 'apparently' popular brands..

one reason is that they are also 'popular' in the service/repair bays....

another is that Marquis want to focus on more 'profitable' brands...

they have a good thing going with AS and although these might be sold as 'quality' products, their forum suggest plenty of issues that shouldn't be prevalent....poor heating instalations in their PVC range is a very hot topic at the moment...but sales are bouyant...and they dont suffer the damp issues that still blight Bailey and Swift despite changes to their construction processes.....

it seems (from Swifts own forum) it's the poor QA that allows inferior products through the dealerships to the customers which then come back (often more than once) to bite them, perhaps Marquis decided enough....?

It seems as though Marquis have indeed stopped selling new Swift and Bailey products which would make sense as they have plenty which there new owners would like to see in preference to Swift or Bailey.

Should be some good discounts to be had if they still have old stock to shift.
