Eurotunnel - Frequent Traveller Accounts

Hi everyone. We are just looking into the Frequent Traveller Accounts at Eurotunnel and wondered whether anyone has had experience of using them. It seems to be a good deal ....

    We had one, and intend to renew it in the New Year.  We took the first package out in June 2015 and shared it with our son.  We costed our two return crossings for a joint holiday with our son, and the total would have been for £406.  For £24 extra we got six more crossings - and we used five more of these.  We have a house in France so cross regularly.  We paid for a single trip back in late September, using P and O ferries.......... because the timing was wrong to renew our Frequent Traveller.  

    Next year we're sharing the package with another couple from our home town.  Effectively we'll each get five crossings for £220, which compares well to the ferries and is a much quicker crossing.  We can each add more crossings if we do more than five (quite likely in our case). 

    Of course if you choose peak times, or peak season dates the supplements apply, and they also apply supplements for caravans and pets............. but still a good deal if you're going to cross enough times to make each trip cheaper than it would be if you just got the cheapest ferry (ship) crossing.

    Thanks ValDa. That makes great sense. I think we will probably go for this. Do you know whether the number of Frequent Traveller places are limited per crossing? Also what happens if you miss your train - is it still the 2 hour period flexibility?

    I've no idea about how many 'FQ' places are offered, or whether there is a limit.  I would just say that we've never had a problem booking the crossings we wanted.  We have missed a train, and have just been put on the next one, and we've also been put on an earlier train when we arrived early. One time we were told 'our' crossing was running late, so we were put on the next available one, but then  after boarding the train we actually set off before our booked time anyway.

    Thanks again ValDa. One last question ... do you tend to book well ahead. I know they say that you can book at short notice but ....

    Short notice - usually.  We have a house in France and never make our minds up exactly when were coming back to England......... so it can vary from a day or two, to a couple of weeks before travelling.  Even when we took out the package in the first place we probably only booked about three weeks before.

    Slightly off topic but has anybody any experience of Brittany Frequent Traveller scheme.  It seems there is a £70 joining fee plus £70 for each year of membership.  It seems there would have to be significant savings over CAMC prices for it to be worthwhile. Grateful for any feedback.

    Mike132 - you might be better off starting a completely separate topic, as those who use Brittany Ferries may not read a thread about Eurotunnel.
