im going to the loire area near to leval and Mayenne in France next july as my daughter is having her wedding celebration in a chateau in that area.As I am going over with my caravan wondered if anybody can recommend any campsites for me.Im not looking particular for sites with clubs or swimming pools ,just somewhere which is nice ,but does have to have toilets.

I will also be travelling within France then onto Luxembourg so any recommendations would be really helpfull.

regards   Harry

The campsite at Mayenne town is called Camping du Gue St Leonard. I don't know it but the photos on the website look pleasant and the reviews are good. Is that the right location ?

A Dutch friend of mine stayed on that site with her family and rated it highly.  She is quite hard to please so I'd assume it's a good choice!

I have checked out the Du Gue St Leonard camp site near Mayenne France, looks good but I have  a problem trying to book it, their web page is in French, tried other web pages on site but no luck even when trying to use e- mail  but will not send. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Harry, That campsite is closed until 15 March so there is probably no one there at the moment. I would wait until March and use the contact form on their website then - send your request inEnglish as the website says that English is spoken, so you might even phone them in March if you prefer.  I don't think you will have a problem and hope the wedding is a great success.

I doubt, personally, that you'll need to book.  It's a small municipal site, rather off the beaten track, and usually they are not busy even in peak season.  However, I can understand that you want the reassurance of a booking.  If you copy and paste the email address:  camping@mayennecommunaute.fr into your email system a message does get sent, but it may be much later in the year when you get a reply as most municipal sites are unmanned apart from the months when they are open, and the staff at the Mairie rarely deal with emails!

Is it possible that the wedding venue can speak to someone at the Mairie and make sure that a pitch is kept available for you?  They may even know the person at the Mairie who organises the campsite!
