Algarve resorts in January

I am aware that a lot of fellow caravanners go to Portugal for the winter.  Whilst we are flying there for only a couple of days in Jan, I wonder if someone could give us a tip on which resort to choose.  We like picturesque resorts with good food.  Dislke bars that have Eastenders on and serve Sunday Lunch (Love both of these at home but want local culture abroad).  We are thinking about either Villamoura or Lagos and wondered what those with experience would recommend.
