I use a Humax freesat box ,I think it's a 1100s ,it's the one with two tuners so you can watch one channel and record another ,it works well all the time you can get a signal ,used it with a free standing dish when we had the caravan but got a roof mounted one (dish)now we have a M/H

Another option but cost more is a Vision plus or Avtex TV with a built in Satellite receiver. less clutter but comes at a cost.

In the past we have used a Comag satellite receiver that worked quite well and was quite compact. Since then I have purchased an Avtex TV with a built in satellite receiver which is a neater option in the van but a lot more expensive. I think there are a couple more TV brands that have the same function of a built in receiver. As far as getting the actual picture I don't think one way of doing it is any better than the other its just with the built in version you don't have so much gubbins!

Humax have a good reputation for satellite boxes. Get one with a hard drive and you can record programmes when you are out of watching another channel.

We use the less expensive Humax box without the hard drive, and a little gadget with a 2inch screen that connects to the dish. It shows the picture on the channel you are searching for and slight movements of the dish will improve the signal quality. The only alterations we usually have to make is the vertical angle on the dish depending on where we are in the country, Cornwall needs a higher setting. Once you have your picture you connect to your box and that is it. We use a 40cm dish and a cut down three legged clothes airer.

I like the Humax set top box, the programme guide and planner being so very much better than that on my Avtex satelite TV. The picture on the Avtex is great mind compared with other 12volt TVs we have had.

The only problem I have is with the degree of rotation on the LNB.

I never can get that right so have given up and use my Humax with an automatic satellite finding dish mounted on the caravan roof.
