Afternoon everyone

I have a vw tiguan and a genuine vw tiguan  tailgate cycle rack . I tow a elldis affinty 554 . Does anyone have any expeirence of towing with this type of arrangement?

The rack carrys two bikes . Am i likely to run into difficulty if i have to make a sharp turn ? Could the bikes strike the front of the caravan ?

Cheers

Did you ever get any replies to this? I have exactly the same question but with a Volvo XC60.

A suggestion. Rather than waiting and hoping for an answer to an 8 year old question….take your car and caravan to a supermarket car park after they close on Sunday afternoon.. Try a slow full lock turn (a) going forwards and (b) going in reverse. Measure the space between car and caravan corner and see if it’s wide enough for bike rack plus bike. Probably not, but you may be lucky.

When I towed with a Kia Sorento I had a Witter Tow Bar mounted bike rack. The only problem I encountered was reversing onto a tight pitch and if we were doing that we would remove the bikes first. General towing and moving between campsites was fine. If The rack is higher up it might not cause the same issue.

    Hi

We have an XC60 and use a roof mounted bike rack may not suit everyone but I find it better to have the bikes completely out of the way and the roof rack means we can leave them up their if just doing a 1 night stop over and can still acces the boot.

Like @Francis having an XC60 I too used carried my bike on the roof bars, however not being over 6ft fall I found that I had to use a small set of step ladders, and good balance, to get high enough to place the bike on the rack.
