Bosina boarder insurance

I'm driving my Motorhome thorough Croatia as far as Dubrovnik, this will require us to cross through Bosnia, and my insurance, Comfort, dose not cover Bosnia I asked them for Green Card and they don't issue one for Bosnia. They tell me to buy insurance at the boarder, but on researching on the internet people say were unable to find anyone selling the insurance at the boarder. I don't want to change my insurance company.
What is your experience in crossing that 15 miles of Bosnia ? and where do I buy insurance ?

No personal experience either but others say that you cannot buy temporary insurance for the Bosnia crossing at Neum, and the  alternatives seem to be these..

To buy temporary Bosnian insurance at other border posts where it is available e.g. Metkovic

To take the risk of driving uninsured across the short stretch of Bosnia at Neum.

To take the ferry from Ploce to miss out that bit of Bosnia at Neum

To change your UK motor insurance to a company which will cover you for Bosnia

To take a day trip to Dubrovnik by bus.

I hear what you are saying,   but there are personal experiences on all the Motorhome forums from people who have used of all those five options. Regards. Take care.

On our recent ACSI tour of Croatia the first thing the guide said was 'of course you all have insurance for Bosnia'?

At no point was Bosnia mentioned prior to the trip.  There was nowhere to buy insurance and this was never offered.  The Bosnian section is only 8 miles, good road and very quiet....11 vans went through without insurance.  Once through there was the option to return by ferry avoiding the border.  Had we realised this option, we would have taken the ferry going down and avoided this problem.

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy vehicle insurance to cover a single journey. Like the OP I do  not want to change my insurer but do want to travel in countries it will not cover.

It looks as thought the Club insurance covers Bosnia, how comprehensive is your insurance and is it worth changing?

see here (this may not be conclusive)

There have been previous discussions and answers about this on CT but unfortunately I can't find the links.

Hello PD , The RAC website says you can buy temporary insurance cover for Bosnia at all Bosnian border posts - except Neum. Or did you mean buy it in England before you set off?

I don't want to hijack this thread but would really appreciate  one post of your thoughts on the ACSI Croatia trip regarding the nationalities of members (I was told they would all be UK) plus the good and bad points and value for money.

    Thank You

Edit, I see there is another thread where you say you will post in stories. Could you let everyone know when you have been able to do that?

Further research reveals there are quite a few companies offering short term insurance. Most seem to have the restrictions of EU countries only and aged 75yrs or under, a very few indicate they may offer wider insurance and it would be a case of discussing it with them.

Apologies for the delay, but I do not monitor the PC as much when the weather is nice.

I will try and offer my insight, probably tomorrow AM.

    I will say ACSI impressed.
