Warning re caravan MCB Units
Hi we recently spent 4 days at Morn Hill site and enjoyed very good weather.
We spent most of the time in Winchester using the Park And Ride which we found very good.
While we were on site we noticed a plastic type burning smell in the wardrobe of our Compass caravan.
On inspection there was nothing apparent but on the last day the smell had increased.
When we got back to storage I decided to take a closer look at the MCB unit and to my horror found burning on the MCB connecting bars.
I ordered a new unit and have now fitted it.The problem appears to have been caused by te screw holding the incoming live to the lighting circuit had come loose and was causing some heat/arcing.
What must have happened it due to the flexing and bumping of the caravan when on the move the connection had come loose.
My advice would be to periodically remove the front of the MCB box and check all the connections for tightness.
