Has anybody got a suggested 'best route' scenario, towing from Freiburg to Augsburg??.  Will be very grateful for all advice

It depends what you mean by 'best'

When are you going?

For how long?

Do you want to wend your way in a direct route (180 miles) or whizz there asap on autobahns (220 miles)?

Thanks, Thought that the wend route might be interesting ie. by Bodensee etc. But road thro B'forest looks a bit daunting.  thoughts?

Should be fine if your outfit is well powered and you  stick to the B roads.  Hairpins are well engineered.

We were recently in the Black Forest area, 1900kg twin axle towed by VW Touareg.

 The route via Friedrichshafen is a slow one, particularly in July and August, but some parts are picturesque along the lake. The 96 from Landsburg to Ausburg is good for towing. The A8 via Stuttgart is peppered with road works and it's best  to avoid this if you can during the week when there are so many wagons.

We are on our way home from Austria and Germany at present in Belgium.  There are major road works all over Germany especially Bavaria .  I would say best way up to Pforzheim and along A8 to Augsburg.  Or make  for Ulm the  A8.

Have just come back home from Germany. We used the A8 going to Austria and retuning, there are loads of road works though generally flowed ok except one part we sat in a jam for 30 mins.  If you can travel this road on a Sunday, then they'll be far fewer lorries on the road.

The A8 isn't that bad it is the Munich Ring 99 it has 6 huge sections of roadworks.  Sunday is a good bet we always do Brussels ring on a Sunday coming home.
