I agree that afternoon cleaning is far more convenient.

Better still would be morning and afternoon cleaning......without closing them.

Why do people have a problem with keeping them open anyway? A litle shy, are we? wink

IAN   I think you will find all the sites you mentioned open the Disabled  (unisex) facilities when the main blocks are cleaned ,or as at Seacroft the entertainment complex is openwink

Ps Ian you are not normally right with your posts and so it continuescool

Well, of those, we've only used Bladon Chains, Ian. Are you sure the "disabled" facility is not made available when the toilets are being cleaned? I always assumed they were - though in truth we're rarely on site to check these things so I'd have to bow to your greater knowledge! wink

Not correct, actually. The disabled facility has a RADAR lock.

But I think you will find they're unlocked at cleaning times!

I stand to be corrected, obviously! laughing

So are you often on site and near the toilets at cleaning time then, Ian? wink

Yes, in my experience they make the disabled facility available to all when cleaning but ask that disabled persons are given priority!

The other thing to consider is that even on two couple sites for much of the week there will only be one couple on duty to cover all aspects of the role.

Just to clarify - my question is not a complaint but a genuine query.   We don't use many club sites preferring CL sites using our own facilities so was interested why closing is necessary.  Nor are toilets facilities the highlight of our holiday, just a necessity whether site or caravan.   The site here is pristine, the staff lovely and certainly don't warrant a complaint because they closed early to clean.

How can so many people be experts in club toilets? But that's why we are all members.

Perhaps an email to HO would give you the answer to your query. My guess would be that it is possibly a H & S requirement that they are closed during cleaning.

In my experience, it is more probable the member got their timing wrong more than an early start. On the 9 sites I have worked I have not ever see any warden start the "happy Hour" more than 5 mins earlier than scheduled.....

Disabled toilet open to all as long as you queue since it's a single toilet.

As for for only one couple on duty even on two couple sites that sounds like bad man management.

extremely sexist comment aside there, have you been on many club sites? the smaller one do only have one set of wardens. It's a system that has worked very well, and judging by the popularity of clubs sites today, appear to still work very well. Extra staff would cost more. Still as stated elsewhere today if you are not happy with club sites and the way they are run, go elsewhere. It will mean more pitches for those that do.smile

    ?????????

It sounds bang on to me.....

If the wardens open the office at 9 and some people seem to expect to be admitted to the site up to 8pm in the evening, seven days a week, thats 11 x 7 = 77 hours per week need to be covered, ie 77divided by 2 = 38.5 working hours per week.

As I said, spot on.........if you think differently I wouldn't ever want to work for you....wink

Well, I've read all sorts of strange claims on CT, but that takes some beating!

I mean - have you ever, even just once, seen a queue for the disabled toilet when the main block is being cleaned? Really? Even my mate Ian doesn't go that far!  surprisedlaughing

York Rowntree provide a key for the disabled toilet for use when cleaning is being done. However the times are so well advertised I can't see it is a problem. Most units have their own facilities.

mmm would that be a club site? or perhaps not even in this country?

Well no matter, I wonder - do they do it out of the goodness of their heart or is she paid?

No matter where it is an extra two staff at minimum wage here, where they are not any such staff would add to site costs and might just make fees go up for club sites? What do you think?

Yes, to slightly misquote an esteemed fellow poster -

" I find it odd that people who never use CAMC sites seem to feel able to offer opinions on how it is done 'over here'.". wink
