This is just an observation at this stage.

Opened my Facebook page and along with other bits is the suggestion you may like this post for CAMC join the club. I noticed there were 9 comments. I checked them out. Most along the lines of difficulty with the signage. (I have previously glanced at these club 'suggested posts' and the comments so it's not just today). Every point raised had a personal response from the club, a named person. I give an example of question and answer below I have tried without success to make it bold.

 

Q.  It may take time to recognise but the actual logo on the sign needs to be bigger. Often on posts back in the hedges, it is really difficult to spot while you are watching the road. We were lucky on this occasion that there was a CS up the lane we could turn around on. My husband walked back to find the site and almost missed it

Have others seen CAMC on their FB page and similar? Should we on CT feel neglected?

I ask purely because of all the matters raised on the snagging list from the very early days of the new webpages and other threads barely, if ever, receive a staff comment. Should we feel that our comments are not worthy of a reply? That CT or the website come to that are not considered a priority?

    There have been a few comments about this B2, several of us have noticed this different approach on FB. I can only think that the staff are more comfortable with FB due to using it themselves. the CT forum is a different kettle of fish. I'm glad we've had a voice on here but we're often whistling in the wind, excuse all the cliches. wink

    I wonder why the staff moderators were appointed? I thought they might give feedback as well as help keep the forum tidy.undecided

    Brue sorry I didn't find any threads about it when I searched. But that maybe me or possibly 😉 the search facility.

    Maybe just maybe there will be a staff response on this and other matters brought up on CT.

    Tinwheeler I too wonder what the staff moderators do these days, we had a thread introducing them all but I've not seen many posts on other threads.  Maybe it's stuff we can't see but they often appeared on threads on the 'old CT' but lots of threads are duplicated and I only see poor David Klyne's on the case. There is certainly much less activity on here these days so maybe there is considerably less moderating to do now.

    I think it's all gone to pot, B2. I think myself lucky to have found a decent friendly forum with efficient software.

     out of interest 😲 I went onto CAMC fb page and had a scroll, yesterday 8th may this was posted, thought you may be interested ????? To visit? Or to watch.?

    In August last year when Facebook was introduced Rochelle on behalf of the club reassured us that members on CT would not be disadvantaged.

    I commented at the time that I thought it unlikely that all these systems could be kept up to date. A number of members stated that they had no wish to use Facebook.

    I fear that the staff cannot keep up and that CT users are being disadvantaged, but of course I don't really know as I'm not a Facebook user.

    I think the main problem is that for us (of a certain age) forums like this one are the way we choose to communicate and share our opinions, offer advice, etc., but for our children and grand-children these forums are like videos and cassettes - totally old-fashioned and yesterday's technology!  You can't blame the staff for dealing with the technology they're used to - being so much younger than the membership.....................!

    I use Facebook, and have been using it tonight to 'message' both my sons, and my daughter in law..................!  We need to get up to date!

    It's a matter of personal choice, Valda, and I accept that some of us do and some of us don't. However, I feel that as long as the club has a forum, they shouldn't neglect it in favour of the more modern social media.

    I would disagree with you on one point when you say we can't blame the staff for dealing with the technology they're used to. As the staff helpers and moderators have been introduced on the forum, it must surely follow that they are there to deal with forum issues. If their remit is to deal with both, that's what they should do and not favour one or the other.

    Interesting observation Bakers2. It puzzled me why the Club for so long shunned Facebook but then all of a sudden embraced it at the obvious disadvantage of Club Together. No doubt the same people that planned the rebrand must have said the Club should also have a presence on Facebook to attract new customers? Facebook is fine for getting a quick answer to a simple question but I thought one of the original objectives of Club Together was to provide a resource as a reference point for members, something that Facebook can't do. The fact that seems to be no obvious rush to sort out even minor problems on Club Together. One simple illustration is the Congratulations/Good Wishes section of General Chat. This must have been reported getting on for a month ago and yet it has not been sorted. This does make me suspicious that this forum may not be a permanent feature as they are clearly unwilling to invest the time and money to get it running properly. So many parts of Club together are a mess with no immediate indication that serious consideration is being given to sorting it out.

    For the amount of attention CT gets both from the Club and its members it should be closed.

    I use FB but I certainly would not use it to communicate with the Club and the world.

    My gripe with CT is that staff champions have had fanfare introductions on a couple of occasions but apart from 1 or 2 you never hear from them.   There have been a number of decisive threads where 1 factual comment from the staff champion could sort the question out e.g. Sunday departures etc.  10 minutes to read the thread and post a factual reply.  

    I use FB quite extensively but never been on the CC site.  The great thing about FB is that most companies have a page so when things go wrong its a great asset to voice your complaint.  Usually the post is answered within hours and the problem resolved.  Not all publicity is good.  

    PS I never put on FB when we are away

    After watching the very evasive replys given by the "bosses" from Face book and Twitter  the other night about what personal information is "Harvested" about users ,i am even more glad i do not use themsurprised

    i use FB as briefly as possible (it helps with OH 'sideline') but the downside is that I get so many notifications of trivia like 'x has updated their status' or 'y has commented on x thread that z has been mentioned in'....

    of no interest whatsoever.

    if i enter the CC world of FB, will I have to suffer 'Xxx (no names, no pack drill) has commented on a thread zzz is mentioned in' emails day and night?

    i cant think of a more intrusive 'system' where its sole purpose is wringing information out of users, yet those users think its for 'keeping in touch'.....why tell the world 'youve commented on xxx photo', why not just tell the person who took it?

    ah, so last century.....undecided

    FB is in so-called private use in our household, but not by me. I find  FB of it's era and it's policies on profiling pretty awful. However it's here and in use worldwide.

    The Club stated FB use would be controlled and it is. CT has provided us with a lot of freedom to express opinions not allowed on FB, I suspect at the moment staff members are involved in the Alderstead event, the National etc and CT has very low priority.

    I will be very surprised if CT continues. The staff don't have enough time to engage with it.

    I agree with your post David. 

    I do have a fb account never post much on the public side, I recently posted a photo of the beautiful flowerbeds in our local park, but can't remember any other 😂.  I have a very limited number of fb friends, 14 in total, I do use it for free communication via messenger with them especially when out of the country!

    I have had a look at the club fb page but can find nothing of interest to read on there and certainly nothing like CT where there is help on nearly every aspect of our hobby. I'm asking myself am I missing something? I'd be pleased to hear what others think on this point.

    I think there is nothing wrong with the Club having a fb page and presence but not at the expense of CT. I think it's like comparing apples and pears!

    Whilst looking on fb I found a post about Good Morning being broadcast from Alderstead Heath on 11 May copied and pasted the post from fb on the Alderstead thread. I found nothing about it on a search on the entire club website. I repost below. I'm not interested but others maybe. Surely you'd want to share such with as much of the membership as possible?

    Completely agree with that. You can turn those notifications off. I discovered recently. Makes for a more peaceful life and less email notifications.

    wholeheartedly second this. On fb the comment about signage is acknowledged and passed on according to the reply. CT gets no response so we don't even know if it's been read let alone actioned. I consider that to be rude and discrimination against CT users.

    Wouldn't it be wonderful to receive an official response on this thread? Anyone fancy reporting it to see what results?

    Mind you there is big problem with rally search that has been reported but to my knowledge at this time 0857 10 May no response so I expect well hear nothing! 

    Almost tempted to be rude to see if that elliot attention 😉

    not going to look myself, but does the club FB page have structure allowing discussion (help/advice) on a particular subject, like most forums, or is it just a continual stream of (seemingly) unrelated comments, requiring the user to scroll backwards and forwards to seive out what might be of help?

    if the latter, wont this be incredibly hard work and just turn the thing into one long conversation piece?

    From you on here. laughing I also had a look at the club FB last night, just to confirm why I can't be bothered to engage with it, so I saw the event advertised. As you say nothing on the Club web site to promote the event which is an error of judgement because the web site should be the main communication vehicle not FB.

    The Club needs to make up it's mind which is most important, a fully functional and communicating web site or FB! 

    I would expect, when hitting the web site to read all the latest news and events alongside encouragement to sign up more members.

    The way you write is the way I can see. So no threads on subjects like CT. Yes I know fb wouldn't have threads but nothing similar just read comments on anything so more time wasting than CT 😂😂. At least I can be vaguely interested in a thread I'm reading through!

    Unfortunately, I tend to agree with most.  CT does seem a lot quieter of late and I guess the younger folk are used to using social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

    I admit to using Facebook quite a bit, but I've not warmed to Twitter as much.  I don't really 'get' what Instagram has to offer over FB.

    Just had another look at FB, mixed up with the TV Good Morning Britain event are photos of dogs and someone complaining about dog mess, the reply is along the lines of  "have you mentioned this to the owners and have a good holiday" I fear the staff will soon be exhausted with all this communication. Bring back the days of just going on holiday and having a grumble in the van rather than multiple world wide web site posts on the subject. I blame Tim Berners-Lee for all this. wink

    Can't we just have a decent working web site?

    being single I use F/book so added the Camc to my groups ,I don't use it when I'm away and it infuriates me when folk put on they are sat at the airport telling the whole world where they are going ,and this annoying habit of taking pictures of their food ,I know a Sunday dinner or a plate of Fish & Chips looks like ,my phone isn't connected to the internet so I don't put pictures on all the time !!
