Outer Hebrides with a caravan
Am looking to plan a trip to the islands of South Uist and up to Lewis in summer 2018. Is this feasible with a car + caravan and if so, are there any recommended sites?

I'm afraid I can't give you any info, pegwr, but I know others have done it and there have been threads about it on here in this section.
I can only wish you good luck if you attempt the forum search facility

I've read posts about it but no idea know ghetto title of them, sorry. I seem to recall something about the mess vanners were leaving and not being allowed to board ferries without proof of site bookings. But I certainly wouldn't want to be quoted on it as I may have got it wrong!

I know people on here have been to the Outer Hebrides and hopefully will spot this topic. I'd start with CalMac ferries here's a LINK and see what's on offer for routes and timetables. Also search on ukcampsites for Outer Hebrides sites.
If you use the search at the top of this section, UK Sites and Touring and put in Outer Hebrides it brings up recent topics on the subject. Don't use the main search, it won't work.

Just Google Caravan Hebrides for links to to this forum as well as other forums, and use the campsite search on UKCampsite.co.uk for details of all the sites over there.

Andrew Ditton takes his Airstream up there all the time. If you go to his YouTube site he has many vlogs on there showing the roads, and also the ferry on there.

Yes, it's eminently do-able (albeit the ferry isn't cheap).
THis search on 'Hebrides' on here has several threads that will give you info:

Look on http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/ for info on sites.
