No tv reception in Holland

Please help. It's our first time abroad with the caravan and we're staying in Holland. We asked at reception because we were having issues and they told us we need to search for analogue channels here but even doing that we can't get a signal. Have tried with the aerial facing everyway and makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Are you trying to get Dutch or UK channels? You would be most unlikely to be able to pick up UK programmes on an aerial as you are too far away from main mast in the UK. I don't think it would work trying to get Dutch TV broadcast on the old analogue system because I am pretty sure the systems are different. Digital should be OK. Have you had a look where the Dutch are pointing their aerials?

They stopped transmitting an analogue signal in Holland in 2006 so there is little point in trying to search for an analogue channel.

We had this problem in Holland a couple of years ago. Our television found several channels but would not receive them, message on screen was that a "Common Interface" card was required. (As far as I know, this is what is needed to get what used to be described as "Freeview Plus" channels in the UK, but I could be wrond on that).

I do know that many dutch households rely on cable television. We have stayed on sites where there was a television outlet on the electric hook up, this worked fine for us at the time and the programmes included the 2 main BBC channels.

Thanks. Any tv would be better than none so didn't really matter. It was the dutch lady on reception who told us to use analogue rather than digital so surely that's a bit strange if they stopped analogue in 2006! We get the same message about no CI module when we scan digitally and don't have a satellite dish. No tv connection on the hook up stand so guess we'll just have to do without!

somerimes, if a tv signsl is piped down a cable, its an analog feed of a digitsl channel.

this is exactly what happens when taking a 2nd feed from a Sky box (same picture on two tvs).

the 2nd tv has to be analog tuned to the 'RF out' channel of the Sky box.

perhaps you need to do an analog search to find out which 'channel' the site signal is being broadcast on....

You should be able to receive around four digital channels in the Netherlands if my memory is correct all others are only available by subscription.
