Does any one know how many 'rescue personnel' have been killed on the M25 in the past 12 months?

It occurred to me that working for Green Flag, the AA, RAC or any other rescue outfit on that road must be the most dangerous job in the UK.

Certainly not one that I would wish to do.

OH has finally found the nail that was causing a slow puncture in our motorhome....think this is going to be an expensive morning as he'll probably get two replacement tyres.frown

Other than that the sun is coming out again, onwards and upwards.wink

Our tyre, previously mentioned, has been vulcanised, so not so expensive. The nail that went in it certainly had a point.....wink

Another afternoon pottering in the garden. Needed to stake up some large plants, create a climbing frame for them, devil of a job getting pointless stakes into hard, dry ground! Sorted eventually though!

Since Sunday I have been having problems with my phone and internet connection frown that are not yet resolved, so while it is up and running with speeds of less that 3Mb I've just spent the last few minutes catching up on this thread and posting this comment -

Just got back from a long weekend away at Barnard Castle. Whilst we were there we did a walk up to Cotherstone and back. The maps from Tourist Information said it was 4 miles each way. We walked at least 5 and a half miles there and in total 12 and a half miles. That was tiring and pointless because we finished up where we started.

Went for a walk, over the course of 4 miles or so made 3 left turns and ended up at my starting point!

All rather pointless as should have stayed in the pub in the first place.laughing

Same here regarding rain.nright sun then it looks like the world may end type black clouds,  get ready for a decent shower only to find its past us by. 😲

    Definitely pointless.

TDA agree we need a decent rain but more gentle than you suggest my garden and the crops don't want to be flattened😮.  The blosdoms ate delightful and woild be gone for 12 months 😢.But I agree about the greyness we get in this country,  we are being spared at present in Essex,  it is the grey skies that depress more than wet days!

I agree! I have a wonderful climbing rose smothering a railing fence, hundreds of buds, wouldn't want them all spoiling! I spent last week tying up some of my plants to help them withstand downpours and winds, would have been pointless if we get a deluge.

Semi gentle rain, enough for a good soaking, then sun please to dry off buds and flower heads!coolsmile

TDA you jinxed it pointless! It's lashing down hard and dolly dancing too. Plants are being battered but it's bright so hope it won't last too long 😲. Oh as I type it's slowed down and passing. Birds have come back out to forage for their babies after scattering 5 minutes ago. Almost clear blue in the time to type last sentences pointless decent steady rain please?

Had a coffee out at NT Montacute House late morning. espied a friend doing some volunteer gardening work. Have you had any time for your volunteer work TDA? I was mooching around the orangery there which has lots of scented geraniums and ferns etc, very pleasant.

Tomorrow OH and I are helping out at a charity plant sale.

Still not enough rain to really help the dry ground.

End of today's gardening report. wink

    Just seen this brue!

No, haven't managed to go for ages now, and I would rather go back on a regular basis than bit and bat each week.  OH's chemo day is same as volunteer day, so I need to be with him really. Miss it though, but it's not going anywhere. Meantime I have lots more time at home doing my own garden.

We enjoyed Montacute, been round a couple of times. If I recall correctly, doesn't it have a portrait gallery upstairs? We love Lytes Cary Manor more though, fabulous gardens.

First rose out at home today, very early, "Winchester Cathedral"

Prickly subject! But I love roses. Lovely one to grow TDA.

A day off today. On my feet for several hours selling plants yesterday. I think the sale went well, I was doing the veg, people always ask for one you haven't got but most went away happy. They'll be busy now planting up.

One more week and we can escape for a few days. smile

Well done brue on plant sales definitely not pointless, unless they're not given right conditions. Enjoy a day of rest 😉

Oneputt not pointless to say you're enjoying yourself at all. Long may it continue.

Yesterday I planted a dozen or so summer bedding plants. Ground very dry quite shallow so after I put the hosepipe on the bed gently on the ground for a good hour the plants around them all looked so much better for their drink. Awoke to horrid looking sky thought it was early but no 0745 then heard really heavy rain! Just a short burst. Checked the water butts but if they've got an inch more in them then that's generous. Sun out now but suspect well have another welcome shower. So watering wasn't as pointless as I'd feared.

Spent over an hour writing the story of my last trip.  Did it on Word and inserted photo's in the appropriate sections of the text.  Tried to copy and paste as a whole but to no avail.  Managed to paste the text then tried to insert the photos into the correct sections, what Phaff. In the end I just gave up and dumped it, frustrating and pointless really.

Why not use the option of uploading five photos direct from your computer so they appear as a banner at the top of your story? It might mean the presentation is not exactly as you want it but it is relatively easy to do, at least from a laptop. All the clever stuff that Chas does is a bit more complicated but can still be done with a bit of practise.

I've never been able to master transferring from word to the story section. It seems such a convoluted way to add a story. However the time out is so fast when typing in what has to be a very short story and adding photos it leaves little time or no time to edit. The worst scenario is losing everything after putting in all the effort. Very frustrating.

    Brue

I always compose in Word now. The main problem is that when copied over it needs re-formating as the spaces between paragraphs are too wide. It would be ideal if what Oneputt was trying to do was able to be done on this forum as it would be so easy to include pictures within the text. But as we know this forum doesn't allow simple and straightforward!!!
