We've done very well out of the great days out vouchers in the past - we saved our membership fee during our stay in York.

The online search is a bit hit and miss though. Any chance of more filters?  Just vague terms like heritage, nature, adventure, food would help.

I'd love member offers for Mulberry, Kurt Geiger and Louboutin please. wink

The reason the guides are available on request is because we are conscious many members are happy to search for attractions online to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Are you also aware that many members decide what to do whilst out on tour; that many members use club wifi; that many members use club wifi and that a number of CC sites do not have the facility or that members use non club sites and AS sites as well and, More Importantly, that members on tour generally do not have a printer to download vouchers and hence require a booklet if they are to take any advantage of offers??

To provide a service to members is not rocket science is it?

Every couple or three days sounds fine Laura wink

However I have noticed in he past that  this has often not been the case on threads started by staff.

With regard to my comment 'More Importantly, that members on tour generally do not have a printer to download vouchers and hence require a booklet if they are to take any advantage of offers??'.

If the CC is not prepared to send out these leaflets to members could they not at the very least be made available on sites?? It would not address the failing when not on a CC run site but would go some way towards providing at least a limited service to members.

    Hi JayEss,

Delighted to hear you have done well out of the Great Savings Guide.

If you click on the ‘Advanced Options’ button it means you can filter the search via region or Club Site location.  You can also filter by category i.e. adventure, animals, heritage, tours etc.

Moving forward we hope to introduce more filters and we welcome any suggestions.

I would also love to utilise offers with luxury fashion brands! laughing

    Hi EasyT,

We provide two services for the Great Savings Guide. One is the online search tool where members are able to search for attractions online and can download and print as many vouchers as they wish prior to going on tour, this has proven very popular with thousands of vouchers downloaded each month. The second service is the physical copy of the guide which members can order for free from Club Shop (plus free P&P).  I am delighted the Great Savings Guide is valued by members and I hope members find both services useful.

I agree it would be great to send a booklet out to each household and this is certainly something we are keen to pursue in future however it does involve a significant print cost.

    Laura

Could money not be saved by either making it part of one copy of the magazine or distributing it with the magazine which would save postage which is obviously a major cost these days? I subscribe to MMM magazine and they always have supplements sent out with the magazine each month.

How sensible is that? One lot of packaging and a slight weight increase. 😉

Any outings that are related to a particular site then the distance from the site must be by road not as the crow flies! It is suggested that Kellie castle is about 13 miles from yellowcraigs site then there is this bit Of water in the way! Namely the firth of forth real distance some 75miles!

Good idea, David. At least that way I (and others) might get a copy and not the summary booklet of club sites that we received when requesting the Great Savings Guide!!!yell

The present system must save money Laura as many members are not aware of the booklet I suspect and therefore will not request one. smile

I keep seeing offers such as "Free child with every adult place" but have never taken them up as I don't want any more.

Agreed. The future of the Club are the retired members......they are the ones who go on multiple and lengthy holidays every year (as opposed to families who take maybe two weeks and a couple of weekends).

Retired people should be the target audience of the Club and who should be offered special deals.

Any chance of Trespass discounts? Just bought a waterproof jacket from them, similar to one seen in Sea Salt but £30 cheaper! Wouldn't mind a further discount! smile

Didn't you try for a discount being a member of CC or N/T etc, as most sport/outdoor outlets will give at least 5% disc. to members of such?

Hi David, thank you for the suggestion.

The Club reviews the Great Savings Guide every year and we always look into distributing it with the magazine, while we would save money on delivery the print cost is significant. We regularly promote the Great Savings Guide via magazine and emails encouraging members to order or view online.

Hi Groovy Cleaner, thank you for your feedback.

I believe the email you are referring to was promoting our 20% discount with Roadchef, up to 40% discount with Dash4it, 25% discount with Historic Houses and up to £1000 worth of accessories with Kia.

I am sorry you feel there is nothing for you and this is precisely why I have started this thread so I can find out what products/services and brands appeal to you.  Please do let us know your suggestions and we will endeavour to add them to our member offer listing. smile

We currently have over 50 member offers to help make touring cheaper and we strive to provide inclusive offers. At the moment we only have one offer which is relevant to children/teenagers which is a 20% discount on driving lessons with Young Driver.

Our Great Savings Guide has over 400 savings on attractions and approximately only 90 of these are child/family savings. We include family offers as we want to represent our whole membership and we have many members who holiday with their children or Grandchildren, however please note we also value our adult only and solo tourers and as such the majority of the savings are money off. Again, thank you for your feedback and we will try to negotiate more money off discounts in the future. smile
