I have been on at least one site where on two occasions that I went for a shower etc the lighting in the main block in the shower area did not come on until 6.30am !! OK though as there was light for the loo and if I left the cubicle doors propped open enough light to shave
My mobile phone is set with an alarm for 7am. It is rare that during the 17 weeks we are away I need the reminder. I usually put it into my pocket on the way to the showers so as not to disturb OH.
When not on holiday it is generally used as a reminder to get up rather than to wake up. The alarm is always very low volume. If I wake up early like 5.45 I often wait for the alarm.
After my wife's death some 20 years ago I changed my getting up time from 6.45 to 6am to give me time to do washing etc. Earliest clock in time was 7.30 and I would be in the office by 7.15. Toast and kettle on, fire up computer and sort out work/tasks for the couple of guys working for me.

It used to be that CC customers would choose a CC site because it was in a nice area to tour and explore.
How things have changed -- It seems, if this thread is to be believed, that the most important consideration is the design and bling of the public lavatories.
I don't know about others, but when we go away to a campsite, it's not to spend our vacation days in the lavatory. We go out and about and enjoy ourselves. If the lavatory block is not to our liking we use the facilities in the van.
BUT,--
I have yet to see any Toilets and Showers on any CC site, which is not immaculately cleaned by the Warden staff. Sadly there are members who quickly turn those immaculately cleaned toilets and showers into a disgusting mess. Don't blame the wardens -- It's down to the standard of hygiene of some of the membership.
Cheers.....................K

As usual we have now gone off the point. However I don't think anyone can blame the wardens for the way they maintain the facilities or the general state during the rest of the time. Its the actual quality that is such a variance. As I have said Lady Margaret are old, tired and water flow is not up to a reasonable standard. If compared to other CC sites and even more noticeable on the commercials we have used recently, namely Haven, Morris Leisure they are far inferior, but the prices at the best alternatives are not markedly higher.

First thing we did when we retired was get rid of alarm clock now we just get up and go to bed when we feel like it. The only time we use OH's alarm on his phone is when we are flying somewhere or catching a ferry. Gone are the days of having a rude awakening with an alarm.
It is one of the many things that I like about retirement.

The alarm I use on an old phone is set so low that it would not wake me or OH. It saves me trying to check the time as I hate being up and about late. At home I leave my glasses in the kitchen at night and cannot read the time without. Without it I would probably get up earlier without realising the time! In the Summer I usually am up before the reminder and put the phone in my pocket as I get dressed. Feels like the day is passing me by if I get up late

Well I am happy with older facilities or even none. The general site location and the general site itself is all that matters to me. As far as site fees go although they sometimes seem expensive I find that for the times I travel similar commercial sites generally have similar prices.
