Touring in the Black Forest, Germany

Hello fellow caravanners! My partner and I are planning our first trip to Europe with our Eriba Triton caravan and we like the idea of visiting the Black Forest in Germany around June time. I would be very grateful for any general travel tips on getting there eg ferry crossings/stopover places and recommendations for caravan sites in the Black Forest area.

I am also looking into getting a pet passport so we can take our little dog with us. Is Germany 'dog-friendly'? Are there restaurants etc that will allow dogs? I suppose it's not so much of an issue in Summer when we would hope to be able to eat outside.

Any advice/information would be very welcome.

Linmart I have only just seen your post which seems to be unanswered.

Germany is very dog friendly and they can be taken into restaurants and all shops except food.

Look on my website www.joysofeuropeancaravanning.co.uk  for info. Tunnel I think is the best way to visit Europe with a dog.  I can send you a Route with Campsites there and en route if you email me at dvt1402@hotmail,co.uk

The One thing I would really recommend is to get an ACSI Camping Card see the ACSI Page on my website.

As Dianne says, Germany (and much of central/Northern Europe) is dog friendly such you will realise just how dog unfriendly the UK is in comparison..... We have walked around epartment stores, been in numerous restaurants, on buses, cable cars, boats, etc and all they may ask for on public transport is a soft muzzle so buy one in advance. Don't forget to organise your pet passport well in advance too. You will love the Black Forest, one of our favourite destinations but then my wife is German so I have to say that ;-)
