I have noticed along with a couple of others that the last two threads are 5 years old.Is this a "new forum" glitch if not how do you resurrect and repost a thread 5 years old.

Certainly I do not reckonise one of the posters, and as the thread now is up to 30 odd replies without the OP replying.

Is there an easy answer for this?

Yes, the answer is that somebody found and resurrected a few threads for reasons best known to themselves.

It's not a problem, is it? smile

I think one or two people might be logging on to a section and navigating via the << or >> arrows in the wrong direction. The wrong direction brings up the very early threads rather than the latest ones.

Didn't realise you could do that brue. I've learn't something else. However, I am not sure about its usefulness when there are 257 pages of threads and possibly more to come, if they have not all been migrated.

It might get the same "answers"undecided but it might not go on as long as there are not any "stars" as an incentive, wink

Tinwheeler thanks for your explanation but where you say "is it a problem" this is where I was coming from was

Not if it's the original poster,if he or she wants to resurrect their post own they can.

But if it's not the original poster can they just re post someone's else post 5 years later, something just does' nt sound right being allowed to do this.

One other point, could you do this under the old forum?

Yes you could Fozzie although some of the old posts got pruned out. It might be time to do this once again but I think there's enough to be sorted before that becomes a priority. I expect when people get used to the new navigating format on here it will be ok.

It's not a case of re-posting, Fozzie, but just a matter of pulling an old thread to the front again.

Having put the post/thread on the forum the OP doesn't retain ownership of it in any way.

I don't see a problem or anything suspicious here.

The interesting thing about one of the old threads is that, with the exception of the original post, only new replies are shown?

I wonder if these old posts are because the guys in the IT section are busily adding all the old posts, and they manage about two per day!! (On piece work?).   Of course, being the Caravan Club they probably have decided to start with the topics which were posted at the beginning of the forum, rather than going backwards and loading more recent posts which were still being discussed.

If these reloaded posts are sorted by 'loading' date, rather than posting date, they will reappear as a new post.  Maybe they never had replies in the first place????

I've found that it's rather easy to resurrect a thread from the very early days of the forum by going to a particular section (for this one select the Caravan and Motorhome Chat section), scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click the  >> symbol and instead of taking you to the latest thread it actually takes you to the very first threads which were started when the forum began in 2012.  All the early posts suggest that there were no replies!

Before the forum officially went live a group of us mods, then champions, went down to East Grinstead to familiarise ourselves with the new forum, DSB was one of them and perhaps the post on fuel prices could have been one of the test posts. I wonder if David can remember?

David, if you go to the Overseas Section, and before opening any posts go down to the bottom of the page, then click the two >> (forward arrows!!!) , you'll see that the first few posts are from the end of 2012 and posted by Rowena, DSB, and yourself, with no replies, but there are also 'bona fide' posts from members such as Kluedo,  Disco2003, Bazlid, and many many pages of other posts from members with no replies.

Now I know when I started as a Champion it was my brief to try to reply to every post in the Overseas section, so the majority of those will have had at least a 'Welcome' and a few brief comments.  It's not far until I get to a post which I originated, so I know I must have been around in those early days starting at the end of 2011 when I had the first email from Sarah Webb asking if I was interested in becoming part of 'their exciting project'.

There are pages and pages of posts with no replies whatsoever, more than fifty pages in fact, including some titles that I'm sure I have responded to.  I can't see the point in just loading the original queries, except to 'keep up the numbers' of threads so that the forum statistics look good.

    And now some sparkle!!cool

That was the only thing I could think of by way of explanation. You could argue, I suppose, that any posts over two years old should be Deleted User anyway as they are the devil's own to find!!! Rochelle might have the answer. Maybe best the raise this in the snagging list thread?

It seems a bit of a wasted effort to put such dated topics back on. When the previous forum was upgraded many old topics were removed, have these been mistakenly restored? I don't know why anyone on here would want to resurrect them unless they have specific information found via a search or it's user error via the << navigation arrows.

Just a thought it could be the IT Team checking on the state of migration? What is strange is that they appear, at first, without any new posts which would normally make an old post visible again on the forum.
