Green print on green
no one seems to have answered why we have to suffer the green print on green for titles. I don't bother to look in too often now as i feel as though i've gone blind in my left eye.

I think it looks rather smart and find it perfectly readable. What system are you using?

I don't personally have any problem with it. However, I would assume you are going to get a few folk who struggle to resolve the differences, when the same colour is placed on top of a paler shade. It is likely to be the case, just with different people, if another colour is used. The only way round it would be not to have background colours, or use a different colour rather than shade.

It is poor design. To deliberately use a colour palette that creates difficulties even if only for some users is perverse in the extreme.

David you infer that people who find the type difficult to read should adjust their PCs or other devices?
When those same people can manage on all the other sites in the world it seems a bit of a sad situation!
I browse on a number of similar up to date modern PCs and it really is a pain after a couple of minutes. I also spend up to 3 or 4 hours on the internet some days, for various reasons, and only this site conflicts with my very acceptable eyesight!

It's not my colour scheme of choice but I find it quite readable even though my eyesight is far from good.

The point of asking what system was to try an establish whether the issue was linked to that system or whether it is wide spread. Because we are in the early stages of the new forum development it's useful to have as much information as possible, would you not agree? It seems from comments on here that many people seem to like it but some don't. The problem with changing it is that you just shift the problem the other way round. Now maybe one way round this might be to darken the text very slightly which might improve the contrast. It would be constructive for people to suggest what might work better for them so that IT have something to work with hopefully without alienating those that have no issues with the current scheme.

That is a good point HD but I suspect it is the forum index that you view before entering one of the discussion topics? Once into a discussion the only black on green is in the quote box. IT would be useful if people raising issue could be more specific.

I find your avatar a little jarring though......

I use an ipad with ios10.2. Whatever system i use its not going to change my eyesight unfortunately!!!
huskydog the green on green is in the main forum section titles and then worst of all in each section, each topic. Hence the feeling i've gone blind in one eye. I have poor sight in my left eye which is normally ok on websites with dark print.

Sorry to disappoint but you'll have to explain that one. On second thoughts, don't bother - my whole life is fine.

I don't understand why it had to changed in the first place the original colours were fine.

I would have thought that diversity should have been very near the top of the brief. Surely it's discriminatory not to have clear colour distinction. I have never done anything like this but do recall being given the general advice when producing advertising and flyers that it should be clear especially to those who may have colour recognition.
I have fairly good eyes but don't find the text easy to read, although not difficult, it just requires a good attention.
Desert Island Discs was interesting today, the prolific designer Sir Kenneth Grange now 87 who says he gets very irritated by poor design 😉 which he notices now.

I presume the forums are now sponsored by Specsavers.

I seem to manage OK although I also have poor sight in my left eye (corrected by specs) and virtually none in my right eye. I agree though that the colour differentiation between background and text could and should be improved.
When working I often did drawings etc for public consultations and also for sending out to the public in connection with highway schemes. I was acutely aware that some people - particularly older folk - have sight problems. When I used to send letters out to the public the standard letter text size was 12 point. As I typed my own letters I would ignore this and generally use 14 point. If using, say, 13.5 would permit a letter to fit on a single page rather than two or if editing text could produce the same results I would do so.
