Overall I don't think there is a lot wrong with the new site, but what is wrong is severe and effects the usability of CT. Until that is fixed I won't be wasting my time clicking and scrolling through it.

I'm not the most technology minded so maybe its me but I am totally lost with this new site, I have tried on different nights to get my head round it but its just not enjoyable. I can't even find where or how you start a new discussion. Maybe its because I'm on a tablet, I don't know and to be honest starting to lose interest.

If you wanted to start a discussion in this section, how to use club together. Go to the page showing the list of discussions in the section and right at the top there is a button, create a new discussion.

I used to regularly browse discussions via my phone while on the train into work. Find it very difficult now since the change over. Why isn't CT built on a proper forum tool such as vBulletin or similar? The other forums I use that are based on that or similar are very easy to use. To be honest, I don't look on here now more than maybe once every couple weeks (compared to once per day previously). I prefer the various discussion and advice groups on FaceBook as they are more accessible imho.

Totally agree with rob3047. The sideways scrolling on a phone is quite bizarre, and means almost irrelevant information (no of reads, posts etc) is shown in preference to far more useful information such as the names of the threads.

I think almost any of the off the shelf solutions would be better, and cheaper, and many support client applications such as tapatalk which makes them even more convenient to use.

One other design point I would suggest, if you need to write user-guides (eg for uploading files) then the web site design is probably wrong. It should be so clear, so intuitive and with appropriate guidance on the main pages that there is no need to consult user guides etc. I appreciate that's not always 100% possible but its a good guideline to work to.

And posting is still painful due to dreadful lag when typing - and that's on a  quad core I7 processor.

Maybe I’m being uncharitable but the conclusion I have come to, having looked around this “new” forum, is that CT is unimportant.

We provided lots of suggestions for improvement when a revision was first promised, well over two years ago, and very few of them have been addressed. What happened to a PM facility, for example? Were all the suggestions so conscientiously provided by the members using CT at that time simply ignored? I do think that the new appearance is refreshing but I am not swayed much by presentation, it needed more than a lick of new paint.

The system was delivered with inadequate testing and the pale text could have been corrected immediately, but wasn’t. This simply reinforces my belief that CT does not matter to the Club. I just hope this revision did not consume very much of the Club’s resources, although I doubt the accounts will provide such information.

Having waited patiently, only to be rewarded with something that provides very little functional improvement is extremely disappointing, to say the least, and I have sympathy for the front line staff who are obliged to defend it. If this is the best that can be done after all that preparation, I wouldn’t expect much more in future.

We have been conditioned by the CC for so long that perhaps we don’t notice the propaganda anymore. Such behaviour certainly makes me question the value of my membership. It’s mainly inertia that has kept my subscription going. In the past I’ve merely paid up automatically without question but, as it’s time to be thinking of a New Year’s resolution, maybe I should join BestBoy and see whether I notice the absence of a few nice sites. There are plenty of alternatives around and the same goes for fora (or even forums).

As Club Together is a custom made forum I imagine that to include a PM facility would take up too many resources if indeed it could be done. Stand alone forums have that facility built in. I am yet to be convinced that it would be a worthwhile addition to Club Together. Why do people need to contact each other off forum anyway?  Everyone can incorporate a contact e-mail in their profile if they feel the need for other members to contact them. I have provided that option but I have to say that it can come back and bite you on the bum in some circumstances as could a PM system.

People using a PM system are easily traceable within CC, David. Not so with an email user.

PM systems usually enable blocking a sender. On other forums I have passed an e-mail addy to another member to enable me to send info. Cannot do so here

... and why would I want all & sundry to have an email address for me? People might want to contact each other off the forum for any number of reasons eg arrange a mutual meeting place without the rest of the forum being involved.

I set up an e-mail address that I just use for CT and a few members have contacted me through it ( and have been no problem) , so far I've had no spam or dodgy e-mails ,and if I did I would stop using it

If I have read Rochelle's comment correctly about a PM system it seems that we will not have one anytime soon, if at all. Setting up a special e-mail address just to be used for this forum is a fairly easy option if people want to do so. It was just a suggestion as an alternative. I would have thought that if you want to contact people that you know that you already have their details. If it was first contact I am sure the Community Manager would be happy to pass on a message providing it wasn't a too regular a request.

A PM enables personal information to be exchanged and on the rare occasion to defuse a public situation.

    EMail addresses are private.

It's all far too obvious but the CC have decided that they are not technically able to provide such a system.

No doubt by the new year we will have given up complaining and the club will continue to tell us how good things aresurprised

im afraid this is just more evidence that CC built their own requirements for this 'forum' and (pretty much) seem to have ignored most of the functionality requests made by members a while back, PM being very regularly mentioned.

im struggling to come to terms with Rochelle's comment that this system went through extensive user testing (or similar text) as it seems as soon as 'real' users we let loose on it (in the public glare of the live environment) it was obvious that there were some pretty basic flaws.

even now, there is not available to CT users (those actually testing and providing feedback on use of the system) a list of the issues that have been identified/recorded, nor a priority sequence in which these will be tackled, nor a plan showing which faults will be fixed in which release.

having requested CT users to nelp sort out this mess, the least CC could do is to provide documentation on errors logged and resolution progress.

how long will someone have to wait to find out if 'their' issue made it to the list, is being worked on, and will be delivered.....months, i suspect.

...and it might not have even made the list.....

    all sounds a bit gung-ho.....

Just excuses David. There should be no need to set up another email address for use here. As for asking the CM to pass a message, I tried that once, it would've been faster by asthmatic carrier pigeon and by the time the message had been passed on, the person that the message was for had long gone from the site we'd hoped to meet at.
