The new site has a lot going for it and as I have said in another post I quiet like it but CT is in is current form is unusable. If the Club wants us back then do something to improve the user friendlyness of following threads. The "new" tags are a waste of time plus they do not accurately reflect what has changed since last log on.

Finding the posts that I am interested in is proving too difficult for me so I too may be leaving soon. I'll give the club the chance to fix it but using the forum should be enjoyable not hard work.

< After all we are lucky to have this Forum>

Lucky? It's not my idea of luck. Anyway, why should we be 'lucky'? We pay for it !!!!

I won't bother to look in here for a few months and then just drop in to see if it's still functioning. Neither CT nor the CC in general is sufficiently important to my motoroaming pleasure to justify making an effort with this amateurish, clunky and user unfriendly web site. Several professional and lively alternatives are readily available.

What a waste of our money when there are first class tailor made products available off the shelf.

What a shame that this thread started by Bestboy to say goodbye has degenerated into a thread of anger.

Well done those to tried to be positive and offered encouragement.

I must admit that I've not used CT much since its upgrade, but so far I'm not too impressed with it.  I do realise though, for me, it's partly because it's different and not what I've been used to for the last few years.

There are however, also quite a few glitches, and that's very frustrating at times.  It's also not that user-friendly.

But it won't stop me using it, and I'll just have to get used to the new format, perhaps I'm getting older and less adaptable to change wink

I'm no expert in these things, but is it not possible to test a web based forum before launching it?

If they had done this, then they would have noticed things like the links not working, the delayed posting that causes duplicates, the difficulties with posting pictures stilll, the avatars not working, the spell checker not working, the 'latest post' in the index not being correct........

In short, they would have seen that it actually worked far worse than the poor quality forum that it replaced and they could have avoided the embarrassment of closing down the web site for several days and announcing this replacement with great fanfare.

IT people are renowned for releasing updates and expecting the users to do their job for them and find all the faults. This might be acceptable (but annoying) when it is released internally to staff.......but releasing it to the public (customers) is really not on.

Get a grip on your IT staff CC!

I think this is the main problem some of us are on certain devices and it's all quite easy and some aren't. On top of that parts of the web site aren't up to speed so it's a double whammy.

The trouble with testing, as I see it, is that in situations like the general use of a forum it is very difficult to replicate the same conditions. The Mods had a short period when they could access the new forum as did some members of the Club staff. We reported back any findings we made but the problem was that it was not under proper operating conditions so was never going to a good test. Had the Club invited a couple of dozen regular posters to test the forum I expect they would have reacted slightly differently to regular posters because they were in test mode. However much you test some systems it's not until they are operating in the real world that you get proper feedback. Lets hope by this time next week many of the issue will have been sorted out. Having said whilst it might be a bit rough around the edges the forum is open to new posts which can be answered without issue by members.

Only 3 days! Web designers worth their salt would never have considered launched a site in this state - its appallingly bad.

There is no chance this will be sorted in a week or two - to suggest such shows a complete lack of understanding of just how long fixing and re-testing bug fixes across multiple platforms can take.

Acres of white space; I can only see 2/3 posts on a page - a couple of major car multi-forums I visit show 15 per page! Should have bought off the shelf....

Agreed.  I think that best boy might have got it right,  for I am finding this forum much less much interesting, and far less user friendly now.  The other "talk" forum is far easier to use and follow.

And whats the point of staying when the management clearly have no concept of listening to the members?

The CC appears to be subscribing to the current trend in Retro.  Instead of upgrading to a modern 2017 forum using the latest forum softare, they have gone down the retro route, preferring to install software which would have been state of the art during the last  century.

While complimenting the CC Management  in embracing a Retro outlook to their software. I believe there is not a great amount of enthusiasm among their customers for this niche market

    Cheers ...........K

Just because it is difficult to test does not mean that it shouldn't be done. That is why systems developers get paid relatively high salaries. Besides a lot of the criticism is about the basic design of the forum & web site rather than the functionality. When I was working as a systems developer, if I had launched a system which was this badly received by the end users I would probably have been looking for a new job.

    I'm giving up as well.

It's straining my eyes, and patience, to read anything that is posted on the forums.

I'll pop back in the New Year and hope there's been an improvement to the problem.

In the meantime Happy Christmas and New Year to you all.

Makes me wonder if we are looking at the same site. I get 10 plus the sticky on the discussion page for this section (How to use Club Together) and 10 plus the OP on this tread.

If you are referring to how many you can see on your screen at one time. Even if you expanded it into the white space, you are never going to get anywhere near 15, unless the text was microscopically small. Might be OK if your using a huge monitor, but not on a pad.

It's obvious people are having vastly different experiences via different devices and browsers. Some general technical advice and explanation is now due. I hope help will appear as soon as possible.

Certainly after a few days I'm gradually finding my way around , it's just a matter of where things have been moved to.

I can understand people are frustrated , i recently had a new smart mobile & it's taken ages to be fully confident with it.

I think it depends as well what device you use to  & the browser software  , things can only improve 😊

Sorry Guys, but as one of the early members, I have been hanging on in the hope that the club would admit that this has been a monumental Cock up, and that they would start again using a decent web site design team.

However as the days have passed It has become evident that there is no chance of that happening, and that CT will continue stumbling  along its existing path and has no intention of really moving this forum along a properly constructed route.

So I guess that its time to follow Morcombe & Wise's famous Goodbye and say " Well its Goodbye from him (Bestboy) and Goodbye from me!"

May be it is a cunning plan by the CC to have the embarrassment of this forum be allowed to to die a slow death.  It is after all the only place in the whole CC organisation where it can be mentioned that certain aspects of this pastime and the associated products are anything less than perfect.

I believe we are seeing the first evidence of this as it would seem that some of our previous star posters have gone silent.

well, im still bumbling about here but it is hard work....

everything is sooooo slow on this ipad (switch to any other site and the difference is marked)...

also, almost all the current postings (yes, including this one) are trying to either update CC on the issues being discovered, or are trying to get some info back from CC (a tough nut to crack) as to the definitive list of issues, the progress on resolving them, when the fixes are likely to be implemented....

all the 'interesting' debates of recent times have sunk in a mass of gloom...

    is CT mortally wounded?

not sure, but its certainly on a life support machine at the moment....

perhaps we need a few controversial threads to keep us all occupied and away from the vagaries of the technical aspects of the new site?

+1 HD, it's a Forum not a life enhancing entity we must have to survive. Leaving or staying or leaving then staying then leaving again means nothing. If it's upsetting for folk-don't use it. If it's viewed as a tool to use then stay. Choice is king. The constant griping is helping no one. . . .It don't work, it just winds up the griperslaughing
