Well, I really don't know, but my wife decided these things! Β Probably too many variables to be sure. Β We Β could afford it, so why not?
Both DS and now DD were/are using disposables, it certainly cuts down on the work. Β If you have to dry everything in the tumble dryer, as is common up here, Β I could see that disposable would be attractive.

Break in snooker....
Had to ask OH about that brue, she tells me she has had a look on there to catch up on the latest thinking.
Apparently babies must now sleep on their Β backs, not on their sides as in our day, and feet must Β touch the bottom of the pram or Β cot.
Cot bumpers and duvets are out for small babies.
Seems there is a lot of new stuff for we grandparents to learn!
Anyway....snooker about to start again.

I've skim read posts π²π².
Recovery wishes to Mr milliehull who I missed previously and Oneputt. Plus anyone I've missed.Β
Nice weekend here thank you, rather warm upper 20s but heavy rain overnight sunday/Monday, Β so back to English summer weather but it's warm and hot actually humid, if that makes any sense π.
Bbq at friends completely finished house. Here you can buy sections (plots of land to us) and design and have built your own house. Theirs was built 18 months ago and furnished but now completed fenced, garden turfed and borders planted, so lovely to see it taking shape.
Photos are of road on the way and their banana tree. Everyone' now excited to see if they mature. It's only been in just over a year, was just one stem but now spreading.

Spent yesterday at the beach at Raglan r&r rather than walking and exploring. Lots of surfers but little surf for them. Nice to paddle but wouldn' swim even in the life guarded part as big undertow. Lufegua4ds chatted to folk, one group of 6 who had 3 and another couple with 1, who were using blow up mattresses π²π²π². There'd been a Sound and Splash event over the weekend on the reserve which meets the beach with a steep climb, not cliffs. Lifeguards are volunteers,at the weekend funding doesn't cover weekends, mostly teenagers. I'd have very mixed feelings about a child of mine being a lifeguard π². Naturally little notice was taken of the advice offered. We both said we' have punctured the mattresses π.
Spend a time sitting in the shade after he climb back to the carpark watching these handgliders. It was cloudy by then and all 4 wouldn' stay together ππ. They literally came a few feet over our heads.
Sadly the cafe we wanted to stop for dinner was closed, Β so many are on Sundays! But as their facilities and the light was right not only could I use them I got better photos on my phone. Note the handle - the remainder was cut off and used on the z shape π
If you enlarge the surf photo, by expanding with fingers I find π, I did capture a standing super π. Β There were 2 paddle surers out there so that gives an indication of conditions. (They stand on the board and use a paddle)Β

Oh so true on the changes ππ. Makes you wonder how offspring have survived over the generations π²πππ. It's very hard when you parachute in πππ. We have dairy intolerant youngest too to negotiate as well as very little to no sugar for any of them π. Not that we consume huge amounts sugar π. Suggested to make rhubarb crumble without sugar/honey in the fruit or topping. Β Snuck small amount of brown sugar in both π. All thought it delicious ππ
NZ has 2nd highest rate of diabetes in the world π²π². For a small population that's a big boast.Β
They are very high up in plastic use here too. Everything is Glad wrapped at least twice - that's cling film to you and I. Single use carrier bags are freely given with the exception of Pak 'n Save who have never done them. Delighted to see Raglan doesn't give away bags either. For a 'green' natural world' promotion of themselves they lag behind by quite a distance.Β

Nice to see you're enjoying your stay in NZ, Bakers2. Probably a good idea for you to spend the UK winter there, seeing that you like having the summer weather there. By the time you get back here it will be getting into Spring I expect so by then you'll start getting the warmer weather here too!

On Sunday afternoon, I phoned work to get my work rota for next week and got a taste of how well this job fits in with our way of life.
I'm working Monday from 18:00 to 22:00 then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are days off. This means I get two days rest before moving to Brighton. The weather forecast says fair weather for Thursday, ideal for dismantling the awning, packing it away and then re-assembling it when we get to Brighton. Then back to work the next day, Friday, 17:30 to 21:30 and Saturday 17:30 to 21:30. Then another day off on Sunday.
So it all just fits in perfectly!

She agrees that living in our caravan is the best option for us.

My present wife seems content enough with living in the caravan, Kj, especially if it means we can manage better financially than we would in a house.
I'm not saying that it would suit everyone. There's nothing wrong in buying a house PROVIDED that you can comfortably afford it. By this, I mean that there needs to be enough money left out of your income to live comfortably after meeting the monthly mortgage payments. If there isn't, it becomes a life of misery. So I hope you advised your children not to mortgage themselves up to the hilt! The bank or building society is often willing to lend more than people can comfortably afford to pay each month and people are often willing to take it to the limit thinking that they are making a wise investment. However, it might not feel quite so wise, when you find you can't keep up the payments and the property gets repossessed as a consequence.

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday despite the weather. InvitedΒ a couple of neighbours and a good friend and her husband round, had a few drinks, food and played cards and a game of charades.Β A good laugh certainly beats the January blues.
Another dull day so far but looks as if it will clear later.

We've just got up to a rather dull and grey morning but at least it's not raining. We plan to leave here at 16:30 to start the commute to work this evening. Hopefully, the M23/A23 will be clear today without any traffic hold-ups so that I can get to work on time!

The difference, Tammygirl, is that my present wife fits into my way of life and financial circumstances whereas my ex-wife didn't.

Most of my income comes from pensions in the sense that the pensions pay me more money than work. However, it's still necessary for me to work as I need that little extra added income to cover my overall financial needs.
There are other advantages in that I get to meet people and have somewhere to go out to that earns me money instead of spending it! On a busy month, like December, my earnings from work can almost be as much as my State Pension and can therefore make up almost half my total income. So it's not to be sneezed at, is it?
I'm surely achieving the right work/life balance with my present employment, don't you think?

Tomorrow has come, huskydog, so where are you?

No, that's way beyond my time, Jayess! I'm not 200 years old by any stretch of imagination!
