Nellie, Is the church open all the time as it was closed when we went but that was in Covid time?

    Nice pics btw.

Went to our work pensioner group monthly meeting today. Had a talk from someone who is a "Blood Biker" these are the people that transport emergency blood supplies around the country out of hours for the NHS on a voluntary basis. The group he came from was the Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Buckinghamshire/Northamptonshire so they cover a pretty big area. It's not only blood they transport and a more recent development has been the collection and distribution of natural baby milk. This is, apparently, essential for premature babies as Baby Formula can cause serious problems in very tiny babies. His collection tin at the end of the meeting was being well supplied with coins!

What is it with people nowadays, yet again we had an enquiry about the caravan. Very keen to see it, made an appointment to view then 'nothing' no more contact, no response to our email 😡😡 if they have found something more suitable or they have changed their mind, so be it, these things happen but at least let the seller know. At least this time I didn't bother to run power out to it and switch the fridge and heating on. Looks like the local dealer will be lucky and get the van way below asking price, I just can't be bothered with the hassle and ignorant people these days. I just want it gone so we can get on with life. Rant over.

Mixed day of rain and sun, which was hot when it was out. The gardens have had a really good water, even under the bushes and hedges are wet.

Indoor jobs today as to wet in the garden to do anything just now. Lots of batch cooking done and in the big freezer. I do have 2 baskets of ironing to tackle but it can wait.

OH been messing around with his new mobile antenna. After getting a great signal the other day, today barely got one bar on the router. Moved the antenna around, still nothing. Then we found out that our local mast has had an outage 😩

I think the group that spoke to us use BMW and Yamaha motorbikes, apparently the same models as used by the police. They also have to have cars, although not many, as the bikes can only operate within a certain temperature range. Too cold could mean too dangerous road conditions and too hot for what they carry around needs to be an an air conditioned vehicle. One quite funny thing he mentioned was regarding insurance for the riders. They have an age range of 25 to 75. However some of the older riders want to carry on. The insurance company are happy to insure them over 75 for the bikes but not the cars! This seems a strange anomaly but it seems that insurance companies base who they will cover on accident rates which for bikers over 75 and above is pretty small but of course much larger for cars!

Another bit of useless information, did anyone know that BP provided free fuel for emergency vehicles during the pandemic. They did it for three months at a time over various periods. Surprised they didn't make more of that generosity?

    TG

It must be very frustrating when people don't turn up and don't bother to contact you. It would put me off selling a caravan or motorhome privately. Trouble is that doing it any other way is going to cost money but at least its over and done with. You seem to have had quite a few express interest, shame they have not come to anything.

Par for the course today TG, probably had other viewings lined up, and bought from someone else, job done, so what the heck, why cancel other viewings.

A lot of caravans/MH's on the market just now so probably spoilt for choice

We're at Hereford CCC site at the mo.  Nice little site with a fishing lake.  Went to visit Weston's Cider farm yesterday.  Dogs not allowed in the  afe, but they had some 'hobbit hole' type shelters, which we opted for.  Not as weatherproof as we hoped for.  Half way through our coffe/ hot chocolate and cake, we had a deluge!!!  Got quite wet, but.... importantly, we managed to keep the drink and cake away from the rain..... just!!

Managed to get the Cadac out for evening meal, and are outside.

This morning is dry, but looks quite grey.

I don't think that it is just nowadays, as there have always been people who are simply nosey and some who are serial time wasters, but to not bother to turn up or respond to your e-mail is very ill mannered.

Some people love buying and selling and many make a living out of it, buying from charity fairs, charity shops or on e-bay, then selling the goods on at a profit but personally, I loathe being pestered by sales people and would rather give goods to charity than sell them, although obviously you can't do that with a caravan.  Even though my M/H is old and definitely not in prime condition, I have had a number of people knocking on my door asking if I want to sell it but I suspect that they would try to obtain it for next to nothing, so even if I wanted to sell it, I simply don't want the hassle.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes DK it is frustrating having time wasters, I've done a fair bit of selling of items and thankfully not had it happen before. Will still do the same with some of the items we no longer need.

Rufs, I've don't think it is par for the course just bad manners. Most folk I deal with are genuinely happy when they are getting a good deal and grateful for the opportunity to buy something of good quality at a reasonable price.

Vbfg, thanks yes it's those who chase you up at the beginning then won't answer your emails that really annoy me, as you say just bad manners.

DSB, thanks it is a bit off putting but we will get there, I'm very resilient 😉

Mxed weather again today, been into town this morning, bought 3 tops to cheer myself up with 😁😁 now need to get rid of a few.

DSB, we've stayed on the Herefordshire site too, found it pleasant and relaxing, OH did some fishing as well. Hope you are enjoying your visit, mixed weather just now!

Hope you get a sale soon TG, once it's gone it's gone! smile

Second dental visit for me, not enjoyable and they are pushing "gum treatment" visits for an extra £200, fed up with the whole thing!! However I've got plenty of time for a rethink as the next appointments are a good way off...so not much urgency by the sound of it. End of grump! wink

Hope you've all had a good day.

We are on our way to Hertfordshire to do some dog sitting for the family.  We decided to have a couple of days break from the interminable decorating and we are staying in Peterborough tonight.  Today we visited Belton House, was it TDA who visited recently?   We have often been to the grounds and gardens but this time we did the house.  Very interesting and well worth a visit.  Off to the dog tomorrow!

Been an enjoyable couple of days for us yesterday we took a trip on the steam train to Cheltenham quite expensive but an excellent experience and being mid week it wasn’t too busy the journey itself goes through some lovey countryside. Weather has been nice here today so I went out a cycle this morning and then in the afternoon we went in to Thame a town we always visit when in the area as it’s one of our favourites. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours walking around and had a pint in a little beer garden before getting chips and eating them in the car couldn’t finish them though as the portions we got were huge. Now back on site sitting out in the awning with a beer.

TG - I sold one of my classic mercs recently and had a high number of tyre kickers and time wasters ended up selling it to a friend but was very frustrating even had one guy come see the car agree a price then call back on the day he was due to collect to say he no longer wanted it

So you brought the rain with you..... Thanks, we did need some. It seemed to constantly miss us. Decent amount, nice and gentle too, this afternoon and early evening. Confined us to indoors for grandson duties 😱

Actually, it wasn't an issue. Cozy coupe is good for fine-tuning your turning skills.

Enjoy the dog sitting. We too are having a break from decorating.  Decorator on holiday 😉🤣. Back to being up dressed, breakfasted etc by 8am next week. Sooo hard since retirement!

If id known you were coming I'd of offered cake and a meet up 😢

Visited Easton Walled Gardens ourselves last week. Most enjoyable apart from right hand turn on A1. Decided to come back via A15, following signs for Bourne, found myself on short run in to the A1 😱😱😱. The sweetpeas were lovely but OH paid me the ultimate compliment by saying mine were equally as good...... I haven't grown in quanity but replenishing vases indoors daily and still have a display..

I had the post below all types out last night but missed the 10:00 deadlineyell However here it is updated.

Not sure about when the church is open, WN, we just popped in on the off chance but, by the looks of it, it is open most of the time now. Hope your trip goes ok over the weekend.

Lovely photos tda and rufs. I recognise that site at Caperthorpe, having stopped there a couple of times.

Yesterday was another day of mixed weather but mainly dry, although further in towards the central Lakes it looked to be a different story, and I know they were having a lot of rain in the Keswick area early in the day and through the previous night. We just did a couple of walks in the Staveley area, one along Ashes lane past the C&CC's Windermere site which looked quite full. It was our last night on the THS, and we think we will use them again if there are any going on in an area we want to visit.

Home in an hour this morning and I got van emptied and cleaned outside this afternoon, before it goes in for its first service next week. OH managed to complete 4 rounds of washing and all of it had dried by 6:00 this evening. We certainly picked the right day to come home as tomorrow and the weekend look to be a washout.

Will now catch up with today's post.

I got it about that time and the previous night.

Didn't see any notification but then I haven't kept that thread on an open tab.

Jolly chilly for July again here. Add to that grey damp but not wet and as yet no strong wind. We've had this for ages  including brisk  breeze😢

Edit just glanced up from the breakfast table, we have light rain 🌧.  Wet dog walk so I'll stick to hard surfaces Cambridgeshire clay, I believe its classed as Bedford clay and makes fabulous bricks, and is sooooo much worse than Essex clay. Thankfully I've found 2 decent off lead walks on good surfaces. We had wet afternoon yesterday so cumulative effect.....

Down at DD's to do a few small jobs, weather permitting.

Yesterday was very  variable at home, started cutting back some straggly  shrubs that were starting to touch the house, got rained off 3 times, then found the branches of the 3 shrubs had got so intertwined that I could not get the cut ones out easily, so have given up on that meantime.

Damp hard path walk this morning. Ground is grateful for the moisture, decent rain yesterday afternoon too.

Was concerned again today, first concerned on Wednesday on the same walk, deviated to fields and woods soon after the start then, to see swallows  gathering on the telephone wires. Several on at least r different wires. Summer hasn't been much but didn't like this signal! Again this morning there were a few gathering on the wires. I don't recall them doing this before getting ready for migrating.

Weather isn't good today.... in fact, it's raining like there's no tomorrow!  Looks like it may well be a 'shopping day' today....

Yes, it's a nice site at Hereford.  We're on a serviced pitch (what the C&CC call a Super Serviced pitch).  I get that the C&CC need a fair amount of grass pitches to accommodate tents, but I've never really understood why the car has to go on the grass when we have a hardstandings pitch.  Personally, I would extend the hardstanding pitches a little in order to accommodate the car.  Maybe there is a logical reason to keep cars on the grass, that perhaps I haven't yet caught up with..... 😀

The lake looks lovely, and there is a little on site 'coffee shop', but opening seems very restricted.

    Off to Pembey CAMC tomorrow...

    Happy bunny today.

The caravan has gone and we've also sold the tow car.

That goes tomorrow, the dealer we bought it from 4 years ago has been after getting it back for awhile now but we've always said no because we still needed it.

That has changed now so popped in to see them this lunchtime. They have offered us just £500 less than we paid for it 4 years ago. Handover the keys tomorrow (needed it to get home) that leaves us with my car and the MH 😊😊 very happy with that. Less to look after and maintain. We just don't need all those vehicles.

OHs birthday today so a good celebration this evening.

Rain on and off today again.

Francis, sounds like you are enjoying your holiday. Very frustrating with these time wasters. Once I've decided to do something I just want it done 😩 still all's well - - - - - -

Haven't made any plans to go away yet but hoping to now we have got the vehicles sorted. Just need some decent weather then we will be away.

Suppose I now need to make a list of the items we can sell on 😁

    Have a good weekend all.

We popped into Peterborough Cathedral today.  Rather a curtailed visit due to much of the interesting end being all closed off as they are preparing for the ‘top secret’ Star Wars event.  We did spy a model of a Stormtrooper and a similar looking model in a black outfit (not Darth Vader!) you can tell I’m really up on my Star Wars personnel!  I’m sure Milliehull will be taking her grandchildren to see that. Spoke to a very nice young man telling us all about the ceilings though.  Now arrived at sons ready for our weekend dog sitting.  Some torrential rain at times today, oh well,  we need it I know.   Glad to hear you have sold on the caravan and your tow car TG, a relief after all the faffing around with time wasters!

Well done TG - I bet your relieved you've got all that sorted.

We've got quite heavy rain here today - thank goodness - and I hope it continues as per the forecast.  Getting quite worried about our pond - in nearly 11 years of living here, I have never seen it so low and I'm beginning to wonder if it has a leak but I suspect it's just evaporation.  It's quite big/deep - about 30,000 litres and I reckon we must have lost about a third of that.  It's going to take a lot of rain to top it up again.
