Bright here in Essex sunny intervals but a breeze in a sheltered garden so may be more noticeable once I leave it's confines. Taking mum to have her eyes tested then doing her food shopping. She wasn't feeling well yesterday so had thought about cancelling appointment - heard nothing this morning so should still be on. Not sure she'll be up to shopping hasn't done it for a couple of years, but she may sit in the car. If not I'll go out again after returning her home the appointment.
I've put a Summer dress on on the strength of the forecast so apologises to you all as I've probably upset the weather 😲.
Enjoy your day folks.

Hope your Mum's appointment goes well Bakers2.
Enjoy your extra dog today brue. Is it just for one day?
We had a mixed day yesterday. Housework in the morning, grand-daughter no. 1 then popped round for lunch on her way back from town. She was very amused that the sun had brought out people wearing skimpy shorts, skimpy tops and flip flops. We then had to take our 2 cats to the vets for their booster jabs, blood tests and check ups for hypothyroidism. They are absolutely fine thank goodness but it took a while for us to recover from the bill. So we spent a very pleasant hour sitting in the evening sunshine in the garden with a glass of wine to recover.
Need to start sorting out what to take for our trip away in the caravan on Sunday. Something of everything for the weather I think. Before that we have grand-daughter no. 2's 21st on Saturday evening.

Happy Birthday David, enjoy your day.
Visiting dog for one day only....I have heard that one before.
No summer clothes here but we have had something strange falling from the sky for five minutes, I think it's called rain, quite unusual!

Parts arrived at 11.35, so I have started the repair by cutting the old pipes.........no going back now!
Now waiting for the van water system to finish draining so I can remove the water pipes that are in the way......it's taking a long time.
Fortunately we have another sunny day here, so I can do all the messy cutting outside.

Silaging in full swing here. Mowing, rowing up, chopping and carting, and buckraking.
My main job is the food. Nothing too messy (last years puff pastry cheese pasties were voted out), and mostly the same as last year (and the year before etc). So, the boxes are packed with egg and cress sandwiches (farmers' favourite everywhere), Cornish pasties, yogurts and fruit cake. And lashings of orange squash.
One thing I didn't know until I looked at the ingredients on the box of cress - it's 80% rape seed and 20% cress.
Then I'll do it all again this evening with different food.
My other job? To stay calm during breakdowns, and nod wisely when the weather forecast is discussed. It's not for me to make the decisions of how much to cut.

KjjNell Glad the oats have arrived and you have commenced work. I know you'll make a jgood ob of it but not easy without decent workspace and every tool that's readily available at home.
Brue have you had it scientifically tested?
Sitting in the opticians noisy beyond belief, very small space with lots of stuff in it and low ceilings 😘. Not been here before. Listening to the chat the are very pushy and reception staff haven't stopped nattering. In fact one presented mum with a form to sign but didn't suggest she read it! It did point out that you shouldn't sign anything without reading receptionist answer it would take an age to read. I'm not impressed. I looked over mum's shoulder and checked form, I signed one myself on Tuesday so knew what I could see. I don't think.thats good customer service mum's nearly 87. I do hope we don't have to do anything after the test like new frames and glasses! I fear about her cataract and driving status. I wish she would give driving up willingly but we're not getting good anywhere on that front! But that brings it's own problems which will need resolving. Such is life 😉

Spoke too soon there, even with the water pipes removed I cannot get the Alde pipe out as the bed supports are in the way........thanks Swift!!
Will have to cut it in situ and hope I can stop even more glycol spilling out.
Good job I have my Dremel with me!
OH's toes continue to improve, still a bit puffy and pink, but mainly pain free now.
Have a good birthday David!
I just remembered it will be our son's birthday tomorrow, all this carry on had put it right out of my mind

Hope you get your repair successfully done today Kj and that Mrs Kj's toes improve. Mr H suffers with gout occasionally. It is very painful.
We are going to The Norfolk Broads site Bakers2.

Local sheep had the rape crop this year, was just enjoying the yellow flowers soon turned into stalks! I suppose it's a brassica type food for them?
Enjoy your Norfolk holiday Millie, would like to try that site sometime in the future.
Hope the Kj's are making progress, pleased to hear the parts arrived.

It's been another glorious day up here in the Red Rose county! This morning we stayed near the site and walked part of the Ribble Way along the banks of the river from West Bradford. Hoped to see some dippers but the river is so low and slow moving around here that I think they've found better water elsewhere. Did catch a glimpse of one near the end of the walk but it was way to quick for me to get the camera poised! Still we did hear our first cuckoo of the year - that landmark seems to get later and later each year.
We walked past this ancient 4 arched bridge at West Bradford (the 4th arch is hidden by the bushes on the left) and shortly after 2 sets of large stepping stones across the river - but I don't think anyone reminded the builders that rivers are usually deepest midstream!

Then this afternoon we went for a rather hair raising drive over to the other side of Pendle Hill via the Nick o'Pendle road with fabulous views all round though a bit too hazy to show up well on a photo. So, instead, by way of a little quiz does anyone recognise this landmark and know what and where it stands?

Sitting in the garden enjoying the sun, if I drank I'd be on a large one. Mother rather difficult 😲. Eye test was OK slight change in prescription but not necessary to change if she didn't want to. Outside the examination room, take a seat let's look at your glasses (ahead doesn't wear glasses unless reading or driving) so none on. Mum gets out first pair oh says lady they look battered and old. Red rag to a bull for me but I keep stum! Mum not happy either so lady takes and tightens the sides gets mum to try them on, next comment oh they're wonky! So mum says I'll have them straightened oh I have says lady.......... Mum then says these glasses aren't very old. I took her about 12 months ago to get them! Repeat performance with other glasses. I pick up the prescription and lady says oh yes that's yours. Yes I said to mum it is yours you can take it wherever you like to get glasses. You should have seen the lady's look priceless. No mention of any cataract and mum didn't ask, I didn't go in with her 😉
After clouding over this morning it's now glorious and hubby has succumbed to using the hosepipe on the garden everything is keeling over. I expect it will rain later now!
Awaiting son for dinner. I'll text when I leave work. Hopefully that was three quarters of an hour ago but heard nothing and it's a good hours drive without traffic. Still dinner prepared just got to heat thro and cook pasta. Previously he reckoned 7-7.30 so I'll aim for then unless I hear different. Looking forward to catch up.
Ps don't tell him about watering get the garden as he has charity golf event tomorrow.
Pps just had a phone call just leaving loads of stuff in at last minute needed sorting get before Monday.

Oh another phone call from son, this time hands free, A14 grid locked. Sat navigation says problem police car screamed through. Hope no one else too affected by it. Hope it's not too horrible for drivers and passengers or the emergency services.

Well, unbelievably we had another brilliant day here in the Lake District. Wall to wall blue sky and really warm.
We walked up to Latrigg then across the top of the fell, cut across into Brundholme Wood and along the single track road looking out for red squirrels (road still closed to vehicles due to sections washed away) and back into Keswick. Market day, so a nice look around.
Some really friendly people (and dogs) on site.
The forecast says showers tomorrow.......ahh well, it couldn't last.
