Another busy day in the garden First cut of the grass (moss) this year, looking much better now.
Had to get Dr out to Mum in the care home today, we got a call on Monday to say they thought she was looking tired and had not eaten much. They could not pursued her to take a lie down (never known her to) I phoned yesterday morning to she how she was, according to them she was fine and sat eating her breakfast. Big sister went up to the home today, she usually takes her out on a Wednesday. As soon as she walked in Mum said "oh I'm glad you've come I have a horrible pain in my chest and back" big Sis insisted on a Dr being called as she thought Mum probably had Pleurisy (she's had it before) Dr now been and says its a chest infection so she's on antibiotics. I'm going up tomorrow to see how she is.

Busy afternoon (after lunch) decided that our bins needed a clean so pressure washer given an outing, all three done, then got carried away and did paving slabs,front and back doors amazing what came out of the nooks and crannies,then door into garden,needed a repaint anyway so now prepped for painting,also cast railway mile post, our house number,so now I and every where washed drying off
Ps also did water and waste containers before going back in c/van after service tomorrow posibly

Glad your sister was alert to your Mum's illness TG, not easy is it, hope you see some improvement. My Mum has had problems with her hearing and it's taken two days to sort out the reason why her hearing aids won't work. Detective work needed!
We have had a lovely day with friends, tired now but it's been nice to catch up on all the news.

Ah ,Dave FL2,My B/yd IS more than a place of work,It's my salvation/occupational therapy/concentration of the mind/relief from the house & memories/a place where i can fondly remember my late Wife & her last wishes for my future.(Her ashes are spread under the tree where she sat ) The B/yd gives me solace & a reason to ,,,go on.!!The Pizza oven is something we always fancied up there ,so ,conforming to her wishes ,I'm doing it.As is the upgraded M/H "Concorde" ,& the new car the V90-R.Also the plans have just been deposited for another 'project',the building of a new "boathouse"(third attempt).I keep myself VERY busy .

No not this time and they were due to be serviced. The audiology dept had supplied my Mum's care home with batteries from a new supplier. We discovered they were a fraction larger than the usual ones and prevented contact....my sister discovered the problem today. My Mum insists on changing here own batteries and we think the staff would have spotted it earlier if they had done it as they always check the results carefully.

Went to elderly aunt to cut her grass. She wanted cash so took her in the car to local Post Office to get some. There's an ATM outside "are you going to use that? No I'll go inside" She goes in I follow, it's in a McColl convenience store, she is 4th in queue. I have a browse and then go and sit outside in the sun. She appears " all sorted? No someone doing 20 plus separate parcels. That's OK I'm fine go back in again" I watch several people who appear to want to use the Post Office so she's further back in the queue! Meanwhile a woman I know but not seen for lots of years appears and speaks to another woman, oh thinks I a quick catch up accidental meet. Aunt appears again. "Can't make you wait, it's OK it's fine I'd like to have a chat with that lady I used to work with. "Oh I could buy something good in McColl and get cash back. Yep says I" off she goes I can see/hear the woman I want to say hello to won't be much longer. Low aunt appears again "oh I say sorted? No I'm not waiting any longer. I thought you buying something and getting cash back? No I don't need anything. Not a packet of biscuits? No nothing, you're out here in the cold. I reiterate want to say hi to the woman and it's not cold and I'm not in any hurry" I don't win. We come away I'm fuming as it's not what I want to do 😣😣😣. Once we're at her house again she goes on about she's never had to queue in there before. She hasnt got cash. Selfish impatient?? You bet. Am I angry and fizzing? You bet. Hubby finished cutting her grass and we made as fast an exit as we could before we really fell out 😲. My mother would not have been allowed to behave like that - not that she would. How can you not be tempted by even a chocolate bar??
I hope I never get like it......... then you have hear say shes lonely . I do feel for her but if all you do is moan the whole time people will give up on you after trying to help and do their best to visit or take you out. She6s her own worse enemy.
Rant over. With a bit of luck it'll be three weeks before her grass needs doing again 😉

Well ,today my wife had her hip operation
, they say 3 to 4 days before she can come home ,so it's going to be quiet here 
,so now I can be let loose in the kitchen 
,just cooked my dinner of salmon and noodles Now I've got the vacuuming to do
,can't let the house get in a mess ,just because she's not here , now ,where does the hover live !!1 -
Glad you got your Mum's hearing aid sorted. Mum wears one when she remembers, we have to check as she guilty of putting it away somewhere and you have to go hunting. We change the batteries for her, don't think the home would even bother checking to see if she had it in
I need to do a bit more detective work tomorrow as I'm not sure the home are giving Mum her inhaler to use, which will help her with her breathing at the moment.I complained about her bed on Monday as someone has changed the mattress for an awful dead one (lumpy & bumpy), the manager called today to say that a new bed and mattress is to be delivered on Friday morning. When asked why did someone change the mattress from what she had, she wasn't aware it had been changed but said she would look into it. I'm feeling a bit frustrated with the home at the moment so they had better watch out.
Bakers2, glad you had a good rant on here and got it out of your system. Elderly people can be very had to deal with at times, the lady who lived next door to me was just the same as your aunt, very difficult and yet always complaining nobody visited her.

The vacuuming to do, sheets to change, dusting, windows to clean, flowers to get in, a couple of pre-prepared meals in readiness so that you don't have to neglect your good lady whilst she is getting sorted after the hospital/ What have I forgotten? Will 3 days be long enough to get sorted?

I tend to disagree that legal cover included as part of an insurance policy is only to be used for car-related issues. We regularly advise people to use that (and house insurance legal protection) cover (which you do pay for) for other things, including employment related issues.
I would approach them and discuss your situation.
In the meanime, I would consider reporting the company to HMRC's minimum wage unit, to investigate the situation. To do this, you must be referred by ACAS (google their number). ACAS dicuss the details with you and if they think there is a case, they transfer you to HMRC.
I did this once for a client and it was all done in one (rather lenghy) phone call. HMRC should then keep you informed of pogress.

Don't you be stressing about all those chores.......just kick back and relax.......life's too short for housework.
She'll still love you.
And anyway, she won't be mobile enough to check everything around the house

Glad to hear the op is over husky but don't fret about housework. When I came back from my op at new year I couldn't have cared less what the house looked like. I was just glad to be in it again.
Stock the food cupboards, put the tv controller in easy reach and that should be enough

, a quick run over with the hoover will do just before She gets home-don't stress it Mucker. If Mrs HD is your regular Lady She'll expect a mess. . . .Anything less will be a result for Her. Bosh, job done-you're a hero0 -
You will be surprised how quickly they get her up and about. If all goes well she should certainly be home in the time suggested. The thing that shocked me when I had mine done, I was home a day the leg went black and blue with bruising. Not painful but not nice to look at. Make sure you have some thin plastic bags around to help ease on the compression stockings, they are a real challenge!!! Good luck to you both.

That is interesting Ian, and something I have often wondered about.
So if we have say house insurance, caravan insurance and car insurance all with the optional legal protection cover, are we unnecessarily paying 3 times for the same thing?
If so, there could be a good saving to be made as it is £25-£30 every time.

Instructions from our hospital. The hardest bit is usually getting them over the ankles. As they are usually open toed what you do is put the plastic bag over the foot, as it's slippy it helps ease the compression stocking over the ankle and you can pull the plastic bag out through the open toed bit!!! I had to wear them for six weeks and it was a right pain. The open toe bit is really uncomfortable!!! Should add they are worn to prevent blood clots.
