Beware a large front window

During a journey to longleat site in very windy conditions we heard a muffled bang and  looking in the mirror saw the window of our 2006 Bailey Discovery had cracked through the whole width and then within seconds fell away.  A claim on insurance was turned down as it was attributed to the window de-laminating and not through anything hitting the window.  I have no will to go into prolonged fight with the Caravan Club insurer but my thought that the high wind may have induced the separation.  I need the van repairing so I have purchased a window myself at a cost of £850.  I am now envious of my friend who has a caravan with three separate windows across the front of the van, and wonder how long my replacement is meant to last.  Needless to say I am far from happy with the insurers or Bailey designers or their components construction.
