A dose of Spring this Easter

I'm sure all CC members have been waking up their 'vans over the last week or two, and we're no exception.  I took the opportunity to strip the hubs on the 'van and regrease the bearings, and also adjusted the braking system from the wheels right through to the coupling.  It certainly gave peace of mind when we were on the road, and the braking certainly felt a lot better as a result of my efforts.

We chose Bromyard Downs in Herefordshire as our first ever Caravan Club destination.  It's only £11 a night, and is a leafy, peaceful site with absolutely superb wardens (Val and Ray Houston).  Despite the fact that the site does not have a play area, our two young girls were perfectly happy exploring and playing on the grassy areas in the first warm sunshine of 2013.  We didn't venture far, choosing instead to lap up the peace and quiet of such a lovely little site.  It's been a tough winter so why not simply enjoy the pleasure of sitting out next to the 'van reading, eating and drinking for a day or two?  We even sent the girls down to the warden's hut to collect the morning eggs and bacon!

We did, however, stroll out through the site gate into woodland, before crossing the road onto the National Trust property of Brockhampton Estate.  Even tiny legs can manage it, and it was great to be able to enjoy the huge, open expanses of grassland.

What better way could there be to spend an Easter weekend?

It sounds wonderful.  We haven't explored that area yet so might give Bromyard Downs a try one of these days. Caravanning is a great holiday for children.
